And of course, "nonne" is used when you ask a question already knowing the answer!
Thanks! Looks great! I am so happy I bookmarked this thread ages ago.
I am off to lunch and then a rosary!
Pax vobiscum!
Why would you want to be in a roomful of people who hate you? And the secure knowledge that twenty years later many of them will realize that what they learned in Latin come in helpful in everyday life is not a valid answer.
A pretty good rebuttal of sola scriptura, at least as far as 2 Tim 3:16-17 goes.
"Cool link, thanks!
Interesting how it disproves the popular Protestant notion that the title of Mary "Mother of God" wasn't around until after Constantine! ;-)"
Well....Elizabeth did call Mary "mother of my lord."
True, however the deniers of the concept simply say, "Lord" doesn't mean "God". This is usually from the same people who believe Jesus is God also, which makes it ironic too.

They sure do have a talent for talking their way around the obvious.
It's sort of the same thing as the way some Canadians define themselves relative to the US.
Neither one is lying...Why don't you guys ever include this verse when you quote the others to justify your mass???
Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
And explain this:
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
If you are saved, you are filled with the Holy Spirit, a third of the Trinity, God...
God is God...Jesus is God...The Holy Spirit is God...
Why would someone who is filled with God desire to go thru a ritual to get the 'real presence' of God when God is within them???
Can you explain that???
If thou wilt give me leave, I desire to go up to Jerusalem, and see the faithful saints who are there, especially Mary the mother, whom they report to be an object of admiration and of affection to all. For who would not rejoice to behold and to address her who bore the true God from her own womb, provided he is a friend of our faith and religion? And in like manner [I desire to see] the venerable James, who is surnamed Just, whom they relate to be very like Christ Jesus in appearance, in life, and in method of conduct, as if he were a twin-brother of the same womb. They say that, if I see him, I see also Jesus Himself, as to all the features and aspect of His body. Moreover, [I desire to see] the other saints, both male and female. Alas! why do I delay? Why am I kept back? Kind teacher, bid me hasten [to fulfil my wish], and fare thou well. Amen.
Bolding added by me.
To say somebody is "as if" is distinctly different than saying somebody "is."
Talking about your kids is a safe bet...
Steve Sez:
"I send my greetings from FReeper Purgatory (aka "the Land of Many Socks")."
I wouldn't stoop that low.
Are you filled with the Holy Spirit, God???
Are Catholic lay people filled with the Holy Spirit??? Is God within you???
Dispensation from the Friday Meat rap due to illness.
Brilliant and I might have to steal..err...Borrow it.
Pardon me while I adjust my tagline.
Why don't YOU include the WHOLE passage?
61 Many therefore of his disciples, hearing it, said: This saying is hard, and who can hear it? 62 But Jesus, knowing in himself, that his disciples murmured at this, said to them: Doth this scandalize you? 63 If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 64 It is the spirit that quickeneth: the flesh profiteth nothing. The words that I have spoken to you, are spirit and life. 65 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning, who they were that did not believe, and who he was, that would betray him.
(John 6:61-63)
Jesus was speaking of flesh being separate from spirit.
