Y'all should read this together, if she's willing:
Not only are Jewish and Catholic values and morals the same, Catholics recognize that they are God's "children by adoption" and the Jews are His "children by birth".

Thanks. My wife is a better person than I will ever be; I just tell her Catholics are Jews who followed Christ.

I know but it just doesn't sit right or isn't named properly or something- Processing fees or use fees (like Reagan said) may be more acceptable.

:-D That's what we all should think of our spouses!
My husband is a better person than I can even THINK of being - he's just good and wise. He can also fix the computers, grill a mean steak, and make fireworks from scratch . . . (not all at once)

Thanks and nice sentiments. I can say my wife says we are happy because she is amused by my antics even when the girls think she spoils me. She enjoys the fact that she never knows what I will say or when; the girls warn people about me. And so it goes.

I keep a few on hand just in case one of my lapsed Catholic friends or acquaintances expresses any interest in returning to the Sacraments.

I spoke to a very good, close priest friend of mine and he said that the children were adult and they would decide which direction they would go in. Just pray.
Fortunately, my kids and I are very close. They ahd some early problems but got over them and are married with children.
You and your wife are in my prayers.

Thanks. I took the kids to church every Sunday and religious training until they drifted towards their mother. I am sure she had nothing but the best to say. I wish I could have done more for them... I thought I did my best - took them as often as I could including almost every weekend for 12 years.

This is astounding! Archbishop Wuerhl, in an amazing Archdiocesan initiative, has sent a letter to the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. on Confession. The contents are contained herein and should be read by all (PDF format.Note that EACH Parish is asked to have a priest ready to hear confessions from 7:00 until 8:30 EVERY DAY DURING LENT. That is astounding! What a bold move. May God bless this holy Archbishop for this grace!

The story on this development in DC is on Catholic World News under subscription. If it is made "open", I will try to post the comments of Phil Lawler.

Great...great! Thanks. If you ever find the place where this first appeared, please tell me. I'd like to put it on my Freeper page.Hi Frank..I first heard it in Bishop Fulton Sheen's "Live is Worth Living" audio series. The Bishop's talk where he mentions it was entitled "The Hell There Is"..(I think it was #47 or so in the series). He (and others) have attributed the poem to Herbert Trench, a victorian playwright. However, I also see others on the internet have attributed it to the poet Alfred J. Hough (same time period).

She says her childhood experience of the sacrament of reconciliation explains much of her adult attitude toward it today.I find so many people saying this nowadays. Makes me wonder if it is truly their own experiences of confession, or if things they've read in the media or heard in their parishes over the last 30 years dissing the Sacramaent of Penance have negatively influenced their 'memories' of the Sacrament.
