Hi Frank..I first heard it in Bishop Fulton Sheen's "Live is Worth Living" audio series. The Bishop's talk where he mentions it was entitled "The Hell There Is"..(I think it was #47 or so in the series). He (and others) have attributed the poem to Herbert Trench, a victorian playwright. However, I also see others on the internet have attributed it to the poet Alfred J. Hough (same time period).
