Thanks, Pyro. Wasn't sure of the answer -- I knew I had to look it up, but I was coming down where you are.

What I find amazing is that the large numbers of Mexican converts almost equaled the number who turned away in the Reformation in Europe.
Hence, there is balance!! Interesting observation (even if my reply sounds like a line from "The Karate Kid"!!).

I lot of liberals are up here. Portland and Eugene areas. But everywhere else it is a red state. We are getting more Republicans in some of the larger cities, too it seems.
But it was good to be out of California! (And in my life story, it is good for me to be in the parish I am in!!)

This sounds like a good vs. evil movie.
(but I'm not happy about the language, either)

Nope. There were definitely a few in the first millenium as well. Are these well documented? IOW, is there an official list of the more prominent appearances?

Hello, Salvation!
We had another beautiful mass this evening, with the children in costume, 12 priests, sisters from two orders, Knights of Columbus in full regalia as an honor guard to the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, flags of the Americas, and a candlelight procession. As an added bonus this year, one of the priests sang a beautiful rendition of Schubert’s “Ave Maria.”
The dinner was wonderful; we had a pianist and a trumpet player for dinner music.
Did you know that Jeb Bush made a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City to pray for the election when the Florida recount started? And he gave President Bush an image of Our Lady from Mexico, and I have seen it in several of the photographs of the White House living quarters.
