FARGO (AP) - Pope Benedict XVI has given new titles to seven priests from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fargo.
The seven priests will have the official titles of "Reverend Monsignor."
Three priests received the honorary title of Prelate of Honor of His Holiness. They are the Rev. Joseph Huebsch, 88, chaplain at St. Gerard's Nursing Home, Hankinson; the Rev. Robert Laliberte, 60, spiritual director at Cardinal Muench Seminary, Fargo; and the Rev. Dennis Skonseng, 50, vicar general and vicar for clergy, Fargo.
Four received the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness: the Rev. Daniel Pilon, 56, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Enderlin; the Rev. Gregory Schlesselmann, 48, rector of Cardinal Muench Seminary, Fargo; the Rev. Jeffrey Wald, 42, pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo; and the Rev. Joseph Goering, 37, former chancellor now studying in Rome.
The diocese said it's the first time since 1999 that priests in the diocese have been given such papal honors.
Bishop Samuel Aquila will formally present the papal honors at an evening prayer service at on Jan. 21 in the Fargo Cathedral of St. Mary.
"...the Rev. Joseph Goering, 37, former chancellor now studying in Rome."
I wonder which diocese they are grooming him to lead?
I was expecting a title like "Lord of the Great Snow".
Wow!
Too bad it doesn't tell us what these priests have done to receive these honors.
I wonder how one might find that out.
"Too bad it doesn't tell us what these priests have done to receive these honors.'
Anyone who puts up with living in North Dakota to minister to the People of God deserves some sort of honor.
