The Holy See has warned that there will be serious consequences for a rebel African archbishop if reports that he is to work with the author of the Da Vinci Code on a new novel about exorcisms are true.
Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, the unpredictable African faith healer and exorcist, is reported to have agreed to work with Dan Brown on the project. The agreement was said to have been reached at a meeting in Houston, Texas, attended by representatives of Dan Brown, Sony Pictures, Random House publishing company and Target, an American company which intends to finance the film.
Participants talked about organising a meeting between Archbishop Milingo and Dan Brown at Gatwick in late September or early October, according to the Italian daily, Il Giornale.
In addition his work with Brown on the new novel, Milingo is also reported to have reached an agreement to collaborate with Sony Pictures in the production of a film based on Browns earlier novel Angels and Demons. It seems though that the Zambian has not yet decided whether he will collaborate under his own name or as a behind-the-scenes advisor.
He is reported to have told Sony Pictures that the decision depends on what action the Vatican takes about him in the coming weeks.
Almost two months ago, Archbishop Milingo disappeared from his residence-in-exile at Zagarolo, near Rome, where the Vatican had consigned him. He had abandoned Maria Sung, his Korean wife from the Moonie Sect and, repenting of his 2001 marriage to her, requested and was granted reconciliation with the Church by Pope John Paul II.
However in July, he reappeared in Washington DC at the head of a new movement calling on the Church to recognise married priests and re-integrate those who had abandoned their ministry to marry. Milingo also revealed he had returned to his wife, to whom he said he had always felt married.
The Vatican, while moving carefully, has already signaled its displeasure at the news and said if the story is as has been reported then there would be "serious consequences" in store for Milingo.

I was wondering if you saw this one. I'm a little surprised. Hard to take Brown's denials of Catholic attacks seriously when he works hard to seek out dissidents and schismatics and such. Gee, I can't wait to see what new work of 'fiction' these 2 dream up, nothing good can come from this. They both need all of our prayers.
Malachi Martin's book which recounts the exorcisms of five contemporary Americans would make an excellent movie. Hostage to the Devil.
He's a Moonie.
Correction, he was brainwashed by the Moonies, who hunted him mercilessly.
It's very sad what's become of the Archbishop. At one time, before his transformation, he was an ardent supporter and defender of Father Gruner and his Fatima Crusade.
The poor fellow - he can't be all there!
I'm currently reading "Angels and Demons". The book is about trying to save the Vatican and 185 Cardinals during the selection of the new Pope. It's fairly Pro-Catholic and reveals the forces against the Church to be satanic.
I read Angels & Demons before I read DaVinci Code (hence leading me to find the latter a mere retread of the former. As is Deception Point. Brown's a one-note, one-story author. Bah.).
I thought it was a good read, but it certainly wasn't pro-Catholic, IMO. It was more of the same: conspiracies, cover-ups, and fraud committed by the Church.
But maybe you haven't gotten to the end yet?:)
JMO.
Fr Gruener has been suspended a divinis. What dif does it make if this Abp supports him or not?
AAAAK! TOO SCARY!
The second I read this head-line, I knew it was this guy. Demons of a feather, flock together.
It is. I couldn't read it at night. I read it in snippets at lunch time. It's very heavy duty.
This could be totally off base, but his involvement with the occult through his "exorcism" ministry seems to me to be a likely cause of this problem. I'd say that it's Milingo who is in need of the services of a good exorcist, right now.
According to Father Gabriele Amorth, Archbishop Milingo was brainwashed by the Moonies. " I have known him for many years. He was a valid healer and, above all, an optimum preacher, releasing from demons."
Please pray for this Archbishop.
How interesting (and unfortunate). Whether it's brainwashing, spiritual evil, or a brain tumor, I will certainly pray for him!
I read this book a long time ago and have never forgot it.
