I get a 3x guilt trip from this!

1 -- I left the Church because of the hypocrisy

2 -- Being brought up Catholic means constant guilt

3 --I feel like I should go to Confession

Go figger

Find a church that's free from hypocrisy, join it, and it won't be free from hypocrisy any more.

Come'on home.

1 -- I left the Church because of the hypocrisy

Pope Benedict XVI is cleaning house, and taking care of this and the other problems. The Church will be as it should in a couple more years. We would always be happy for you to return. Just remember that the Church is perfect, but men are not. The Church is a haven for sinners, as it should be. They need Christ more than the righteous.

2 -- Being brought up Catholic means constant guilt

It's not easy being Christian, especially in these times.

3 --I feel like I should go to Confession

Go for it. It feels like the weight of the world has been lifted from your shoulders afterwords. I admit I don't actually enjoy going through it, but it must be done, and I am always happy I went afterwords. God bless.

3 --I feel like I should go to Confession

That is actual grace working on you. When you stop feeling this is when you should really worry.

Why don't you make an appointment to go in and talk to a priest about your feelings.

I'm afraid Catholic Schools were "off-base" when harping (pardon the pun) on guilt.

God loves everyone -- including you!

I would encourage you to look at your guilt through the lens of realistic guilt and unrealistic guilt.

I used to blame myself for my husband's death from smoking, for example. But the facts are that he chose to smoke since he was 12 years old until the day he died.

Pressures from me, the financial stresses of owning a business, having five children, etc., etc. had nothing to do with his death. He chose to smoke.

I have been able to give the guilt I carried for years back to him, because it was unrealistic guilt. If you want to talk some more about this..................please FReepmail me.

Remember -- God is love -- not guilt.

Come home when you are ready. We'll try to fix things up for you in the mean time.

By the way, I love your tag line. Are those your words?

Guilt is not bad. It is your conscience/ the Lord, prodding you to change. "Guilt trip" is just modern psychology trying to re-identify it so that it can be pushed away and ignored. Look at it as a Gift from the Lord and act on it. "Go and sin no more" I believe is how the Bible says it.
