I think you need to go back to Sunday School. The Torah is contained in every one of those books you refer to as "the Christian Bible." The Torah consists of the biblical books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
You should also look earlier in Exodus specifically at Exodus 19:9 (The L-rd also told him, "I am coming to you in a dense cloud, so that when the people hear me speaking with you, they may always have faith in you also.") and Exodus 20:19 just after the "Ten Commandments," had been spoken by G-d. (When the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the trumpet blast and the mountain smoking, they all feared and trembled. So they took up a position much farther away)
The Golden Calf incident itself is consistent with the Israelites having themselves heard the law because otherwise it wouldn't have been a sin (yet) to build the calf as an object to worship.

It would be so nice on these threads if people were kind enough to provide information without insult.
What is it about these forums that seem to give people license to do nothing but insult one another?
Debate is good. I enjoy learning and appreciate insights that could further education, and I could do so with enjoyment if it weren't for the insults.
Any information that could be enlightening is negated by those who feel they are so above others. It's really too bad.
