And for those hoping to usher in the "end times" by helping Israel build the Temple back up, I personally believe they are being duplicitous with Israel in their reasoning. However, any Jew can read the New Testament and determine this motivation.

I agree...WE know the temple has to be rebuilt in Jerusalem before Jesus comes back...

And we know as well that Jesus wants us to take care of HIS people, the Jews...

It's just so nice of National Review to take the occasional notice of evangelical America. It's just so rippingly tolerant of them, and stuff--rather like a tour of the slums by frightened little missionaries.

I think his point was that you were mistaken Judiasm doesn't "exclude" Christians, or any other monotheists from the world to come. Non-Jews are bound by the Covenant of Noah. A couple links, but as a Christian if you can handle the Ten Commandments, you're fine.

First the Dixie Chicks (you're all rednecks aren't you?), now National Review. Next, Hillary.

Nat'l Review wouldn't have to interview writers of books like "Evangelicals Really Aren't That Awful, Deah" if they had a few of these exotics (who are a big chunk of the GOP, BTW) on their masthead. Or, maybe just one.

This interview sounds like a visit to the ZOO, for crying out loud.

Within Judaism it is a matter of debate whether all Christians should be considered Noahides. The strict view is that Christian theology is considered avodah zarah (loosely translated as "idolatry") for all people, both Jew and gentile, as it subscribes to the Trinity. Therefore most Christians could not be considered Noahides. However, Unitarian Christians and other followers of Jesus who do not believe that Jesus is God would still be considered Noahides.

I would like to agree, but it appears I would need to be a Universalist/Unitarian to be "saved" then.

But ever since the Reformation, there have been some small groups of Protestants who have rejected replacement theology and who believe—as Jews do—that the word “Israel” in the Bible means the Jews.

This is one of the most prevalent errors of many folks when it comes to determination of "Who is Israel"....geographically and Biblically.

Replacement theology is idiotic. Look at the prophecies and blessings God promised to Abraham. These have never been fulfilled by "The Church" or the little country we call "Israel". You can start with [Genesis 12:2-3]; continue with [Genesis 13:15-17]; [Genesis 15:5]; [Genesis 15:13-14]; [Genesis 22:17-18]; And the blessings continued on down through Isaac and Jacob(Israel)....[Genesis 26:3-5] and [Genesis 35:10-12].

When has the "Church" or the little country we call "Israel" ever been a "Nation" and a "Community of Nations"?

After the formation of the Biblical Nation of Israel (the twelve son's of Jacob and their progeny) and the subsequent Egyptian captivity and Exodus to the promised land, these people broke up into two separate nations called "Israel", the northern kingdom and "Judah", the southern kingdom. 1Kings 11 and 12 tell about the separation of Biblical Israel into two distinct countries.

In 721 b.c. the northern kingdom was removed to Assyria. 2Kings 17:6. At the time of Josephus (first century) they are still there. [Book 11, Chapter 5, paragraph 2, lines 5-6.] The southern kingdom became known during that period of time as "Judea".

The main difference between the two nations was that the southern kingdom became known as "The Jews",[2Kings 16:5-6]. This southern kingdom consisted of the tribes of Judah, Benjamin, and a portion of the priestly tribe of Levi [1Kings 12:21-24]. The Apostle Paul was an Israelite of the tribe of Benjamin, [Romans 11:1]. The Benjamites also became known as Jews because they stayed with Judah in the southern kingdom. The other ten tribes and their portion of the priestly tribe of Levi retained the name, Israelites.

Throughout the Old Testament and the New you will find prophecies directed to both Israel and Judah. Many folks are confused by this as they are attempting to place prophecies about "Israel" on the little country we call Israel today. They would find it makes more sense if they placed prophecies about "Judah" on the little country we call Israel today.

Eventually these two nations will become one again. You will find this prophecy in the 37th Chapter of the book of Ezekiel.....and that happens during the resurrection. You will notice that the 28th verse shows the sanctuary of the Lord is among them now and forever.

Oh no, we're all doomed!:)

I don't know any Christian that hasn't broken at least one Commandment, but we know we have to repent and try to do better.

About the ten Booms, they lived their Christian faith by aiding as many Dutch Jews as possible and never tried at all to convert even one. They did it out of love for the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That's the standard that's being held up: If a situation arises where Jews are being persecuted for simply being Jews, there's no excuse for Christians to be cowards and not help them.

BTW, trying to proselyte a Jew is well known as the quickest way in the world to antagonize one. The only thing to do is try to act like real Christians for a change and surprise the fire out of them.:)

Yet lately, Foxman has been sounding like his old self on this issue. Late last year he claimed that evangelical Christians are the greatest domestic threat to the Jews.

Kind of like the great domestic threat Mormons pose to Evangelicals, right?
/sarc

I wish we lived in a world where law abiding, patriotic, and philo-Semitic Christians were our biggest worry.

Amen.
