Correct but IMHO the inference was that C of E was the major church attendance body whereas in my experience this is not true.

People are abandoning all belief in an eternal existence, and accepting the scientific materialism that tells them there is nothing after this life. So they stop having babies.

But the same scientific materialism constantly interprets all urges, impulses, and processes as the drive to pass on genes, subliminated.

So, you'd think that as as we are liberated from the illusion of religion we are freed to act more rationally, which the materialist would argue is to propogate the species. But the opposite seems to be happening.

But in Britain, just like New Zealand, non-Established church and non-(officially recognized) Nonconformist church members are minuscale. Perhaps 1.3% of the overall population (the figure for New Zealand) would be the highest possible estimates. 700,000 people in a nation of 55 million is like tiny pieces of gold scattered among the sands at a beach.

And politically, the general public is quite suspicious towards the Charles Stanley or even Billy Graham variety of Baptist/Non-denominational evangelical Christianity. (Source: Baptist Midland Mission, mission outlook for the United Kingdom) Historically there had not been much active missionary evangelical variety since the Victorian Times. (Mid-Victorian era studies indicate about 40% of the population really believed in biblical truths)
