I AM THE WAY INTO THE CITY OF WOE.
I AM THE WAY TO A FORESAKEN PLACE.
I AM THE WAY INTO ETERNAL SORROW.
SACRED JUSTICE MOVED MY ARCHITECT.
I WAS RAISED HERE BY DIVINE OMNIPOTENCE,
PRIMORDIAL LOVE AND ULTIMATE INTELLECT.
ONLY THOSE ELEMENTS TIME CANNOT WEAR
WERE MADE BEFORE ME, AND BEYOND TIME I STAND.
ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE.
-For those like me who prefer the John Ciardi translation.
You have escaped damnation and made it to Purgatory, a place where the dew of repentance washes off the stain of sin and girds the spirit with humility. Through contrition, confession, and satisfaction by works of righteousness, you must make your way up the mountain. As the sins are cleansed from your soul, you will be illuminated by the Sun of Divine Grace, and you will join other souls, smiling and happy, upon the summit of this mountain. Before long you will know the joys of Paradise as you ascend to the ethereal realm of Heaven.
Purgatory as well. That was kind of fun, and a good reminder of the Four Last Things on a First Friday in Lent.
You have come to a place mute of all light, where the wind bellows as the sea does in a tempest. This is the realm where the lustful spend eternity. Here, sinners are blown around endlessly by the unforgiving winds of unquenchable desire as punishment for their transgressions. The infernal hurricane that never rests hurtles the spirits onward in its rapine, whirling them round, and smiting, it molests them. You have betrayed reason at the behest of your appetite for pleasure, and so here you are doomed to remain. Cleopatra and Helen of Troy are two that share in your fate.
Helen! Cleo!! How the hell are ya?
Only made it to the second level.
Ended up on Purgatory, but some of the questions were a bit odd.
The one about "which would you give up, Sex or food?" was kind of weird.

I like Ciardi's too.
I'm afraid to take this test, hehehe.
Whew! Made it to Purgatory! I hope I'm not tasked with shutting of the lights as the "closer" behind everyone else...

I spent 5 minutes staring at that attractive young lady in the "American Singles" add on the sidebar. Then I forgot what I was doing there.
She's rather captivating, don't you think?
I rather suspect that the writers of the test will be going to hell for placing such an occasion of sin on a questionnaire about eternal salvation.
