A Prayer of Thanks (SD passes abortion ban)

Just a prayer of thanks.

South Dakota passed a bill that pretty much bans abortion. I know that it will be struck down in the courts by noon tommorow, but perhaps this will be the case that finaly starts the push to overturn infanticide.

Dear Lord, thank you for the courage of the government of South Dakota. Please let this be a step to turn the culture back to one of life. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen.

Father of Life, thank you for this legislative decision in South Dakota, and for those who voted for it. Bless them mightily and keep them encouraged. We ask for a complete end to abortion in North America. We abhor what has been done, our personal sins and the sins of our nation, and can appeal only to Thy mercy in Thy Precious Son Jesus Christ and in His blood. Please forgive us and bring justice back to our courts. I praise Your Name as Lawgiver and Final Arbiter! I thank You that you are Merciful Forever! We look to You in all our days and appeal to Your Sovereignty over the rulers of men on earth--direct their hearts like a watercourse to life, dear Father. We know that You knit us together in our mothers' wombs. We know that You love us and desire good for us if only we will keep Your Way. Raise up the leaders we need to lead us into Your righteousness here in America, Father, even as You have done in the South Dakota legislature. For the increase of Thy Kingdom on earth, that Thy will be done here as it is in heaven, that being blessed of Thee we would bless others in Your Way and do what is right in Your sight. Have mercy on us, Lord, and change the hearts of men. You give children as a gift, a heritage, and a reward. How hardened we have become! O Lord forgive and heal our land! Raise up just and merciful men to rule our courts, and let the wicked be ensnared by the traps their own hands have set! Jesus, be King over us as You come to rule in every heart by the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit. We appeal in Your Name, Christ Jesus, Son of God.

Jumping the gun a bit. We are still 1 vote short by my count on the SCOTUS.

I was just fixing to say that: we need to replace at lease 1 Supreme Court Justice in order to repeal Roe v. Wade, & there isn't much evidence that Chief Justice Roberts or Associate Justice Alito will vote in favor of the repeal, is there? Let's not get too hyped up about this yet.

I thought I heard someone on FOX news say yesterday something to the effect of Justice Stevens may be considering retirement, but I'm gonna take those words w/ a grain of salt. I think that he wants to be on the court as long as possible & would kick himself if he retired before any major repeal cases made their way up to the USSC.

What does anyone else think about this?

Unless his health is an issue Stevens will remain on the court until a Dem can replace him.

Yes we are 1 vote short. But it will take years for this to work its way up to SCOTUS. Perhaps it won't be the case then.

Even though I know that the law will be challenged the minute it is signed by the governor, I am thankful that the SD legislature had the guts to do this.

Simply saying "It is impossible", means surrender. It took years to get slavery over turned, and longer for forced segregation to end. I am not expecting this to end tomorrow, but it is a step.
