Then, you don't really understand the danger of Islam. You can't sit quietly and hope that they will blow away....We cannot afford to underestimate the evil that is Islam Evil has been in the world since Adam and Eve and rears it head at various times and in various ways. As Christians we are to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God. I presume doing "justice" means to live my life according to God's commands including standing up for those things that are wrong.
But in the end it's all in God's hands. He's the one that raises up nations and rulers. Who's to say God isn't raising up Islam to inflict judgment on us Christian "nations" who support abortion, homosexuals, pediophiles, divorce, etc. What we should be doing is confessing our sins and asking God for His mercies. We have million dollar churches and nobody's on their knees.

It brings me great pleasure to agree with Harley for a change. I would go further and say that publishing those cartoons was a very un-Christian thing to do, and it set our struggle against Mohammed back.

Luther teaches we should trust in God and sin boldly! If people believe they are already "saved" as the Protestants teach, hell will freeze over before you find humility in fallen mankind. They will simply say that it is so because God wants us to be that way and because he preordained that we shall be that way and they will do nothing because that would "thwart" God's omnipotence.

Well, unless you're a Mohammaden, HD (and I know you're not), its far more likely that God has little or nothing to do with any of this, but rather it's origins lie in the distortion caused by the crushing burden of sin on creation. I will admit, however, the possibility of divine pedagogical correction.

Your point seems opposite to what a Catholic would think -- very well illustrated by that old joke:
A man was on his roof during the St. Louis flood and a boat goes by. The boatman says "Come over, you can get saved by coming on this boat". The man on the roof says "No, God will save me."
Another boat goes by and the man on the roof is now waist deep in water but he again refuses to come saying "God will save me"
Finally, he's neck deep in water, standing, and a helicopter comes by and offers to resue him, but the guy stubbornly says "No, God will save me"
Finally, he drowns, and when he reaches heaven, rushes to God and says: "Why didn't you save me?? I waited and waited"
And God turns around with a pained expression and says "Who do you think sent those two boats and a helicopter?"
Similarly, God helps us when we help ourselves: by Charles Martel's battle of Tours, Europe remained Christian, by the Crusades, Christians retained their rights to worship in the Holy Land, by the actions of Jan Sobieski, again Europe was saved.
