Many people hope that will be next. They're starting with the seminarians because it is a good point of approach - and it looks like some of the homosexual priests are getting the message and looking around for greener pastures. But it wouldn't surprise me if something comes out censuring priests and BISHOPS for defending and promoting the homosexual lifestyle. IMHO, the bishops are the real problem.

The Rev. Mariano Gargiulo, now an Episcopal priest in the Newark Archdiocese involved in a long-term relationship...

Catholic priest are to be involved in a "long-term relationship" of a spiritual kind.

'Hey, maybe I should go somewhere else.'

Very perceptive dude. Episcopalians are welcome to you. You and your friends have done enough damage to our church.

As Lawrence Welk might have said: "Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen!"

We''ll TRY to survive somehow!

I just hope the new generation coming up produces men like him, and I think chances will be greatly improved if they kick out these time-wasting self-serving queens and go back to the formation and spirituality that gave us men like Fr. Jim.

"I beleive gay celibates"

There is not, never has been, nor ever will be any such thing as a "gay celibate." You might as well say that you believe hobbits should be allowed to be priests.

"it sounds as though they have been diligently feathering their nests throughout their careers, and may not exactly be depending on the old priests' home when they retire!"

Hey, those trips to the boy-brothels of Asia aren't cheap, you know.

"If only the vatican could draft some document stating that any priest defending the homosexual lifestyle or professing that homosexual tendancies are natural and acceptable were automatically schismatic and excommunicated."

They'd just ignore it.

I'd like to see the Holy Father and a squad of the Swiss Guardsmarch into the Taj Mahoney unannounced, klonk Mahoney over the head with his crozier, rip his vestments off him, frog-march him in his underwear out the door and into the street, and fling him into the gutter -- vewy woughly.

William Creel: Could they just replace them with lower level layity(sp?)?

Nihil Obstat: Is that you, Cardinal Mahoney?

William Creel: ? I'm just saying that we should replace the homosexual priests even if we don't have replacements.

Answer:

Cardinal Mahony outlines plans for lay parish leaders
Oct 15, 2005
In a pastoral statement released Sept. 30, Cardinal Roger M. Mahony of Los Angeles predicted a large increase in lay parish life directors beginning next year. He said such leaders will be called on to shape a parish's evangelical outreach and its vision of the reign of God.

So there is no such thing as a gay man with self control?

I didn't know that either since I don't pay much heed to Cardinal Mahony.

Came across it on another search through cyberspace and remembered your question.

I think Nihil was being tongue in cheek but you can't always tell with newbies.

"So there is no such thing as a gay man with self control?"

No. Actually, there is no such thing as a "gay man," but that aside, same-sex attraction disorder manifests as a pathological compulsion to engage in perverted pesudo-sexual activity. Self-control is inadequate to rein in pathological compulsions.

I disagree with you. I have two friends, both with sexual attraction to their own gender, who are celibate. Neither of them is a priest, nor do either of them feel called to the priesthood. However, they are both Christians (one Catholic, one Protestant) who do not have sexual relationships with anyone, since both are unmarried. One is male the other is female.

Both believe that the act of homosexuality is both a sin and unnatural, as well as believing that all sex outside of marriage is a sin. Both are continually praying that the Lord will change their sexual attraction to people of the correct gender.

No, you don't. I don't know about the woman, but the man is lying to you.

We will have to disagree on this.

"...but you can't always tell with newbies."

Sorry, I thought you would know about Cardinal Mahony. Didn't mean any offense at all. A lot of people aren't sure if Mahony is Catholic either.
