I'd like to ask for prayer for my brother-in-law (Dennis, age 36) who was just this week diagnosed with leukemia. This has come as quite a shock to all of us. He had been feeling tired lately (for 3 weeks or so) and went to the doctor on Tuesday, but none of us suspected this.
He has five children - ages 12, 10, 8, 6 and 15 mos. He's married to my younger sister.
The type of leukemia he has is called acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), a very aggressive form but it also responds very well to treatment. Please pray that the cancer will not grow rapidly nor spread to other parts of his body, and that treatment will go well and be successful, if that's the Lord's will for him.
Thanks so much for lifting him, my sister, their children, and the rest of our family up in prayer. My sister feels like she needs to be two people right now in two different places (in the hospital with her husband and at home for her children). Right now we're doing our best to care for her children so she can concentrate on Dennis and his recovery.
Thanks so much for your prayers!
Prayers up for clean tests and freedom from this disease.
Prayers up for Dennis, and I'll add him and his family to our Parish Prayer List. Just pleae have him make sure that he's in a very CLEAN area, free from any viruses if he has to go back for check ups. Heck, suggest that he wear a mask that filters as much stuff as possible. It is so easy to catch something nasty at the hospital when the immune system is compromised by chemo.
That is the MOST important thing you can do for her right now; cook meals, keep their house clean, and make sure the kids are cared for. That way, when she does have time to be with the kids, she can concentrate on THEM, and not anything else in the house.
I'm so happy to hear that.
You know his room is crammed, jam packed, with angels, who are helping him, ministering healing and comfort -- as is his home and everywhere his family is, not to forget the precious Holy Spirit, the power of God that raised Jesus from the dead!
Father God, pour out Your richest blessings of health, healing, freedom from fear or worry, and Your great peace on this whole family. Guide his physicians and nurses and let no discouraging word come near him. Fill him with faith and hope.
Prayers for your BIL, his wife and children.
Prayers are being sent on your behalf.
God bless ...
Prayers that all goes according to God's plan. Strength for your sister, wisdom to the doctors, and most of all, nothing but positive thinking for your brother-in-law to see himself as healthy and whole once again.

For her/his brother-in-law, Dennis!
Lord, please be with Dennis and his family. Please protect them and strengthen them and bless them. Amen.
Years ago I lost a good friend, father of four, who struggled with it for five years then finally succumbed, constant trips to NIH. If it were today, I think he could have beaten it with new treatments they have developed for much of it. It was a wonder they kept him alive that long at the time.
There is a lot more they can do for leukemia now, thank heaven. I hope and pray that he will be spared and that the treatments don't take too great a toll on him.
May the Lord bless Dennis and his family. God bless all who pray for him.
Thanks you for sending us this update and prayer need for Dennis. My prayers are lifted up to our All-Powerful, All-knowing God on behalf of Dennis, the medical staff, and his family... through Jesus Christ.
Carolyn
