"We put the protest back in Protestant."

Best laugh I've had all day.

The annual event was interuppted after a group, known as the "Minister of Annoyance," told the numerous Catholics in attendance to not believe in God and disown their faith.

Doesnt sound very protestant to me. Are you sure these are evangelicals?

Please don't read too much into my outburst. I was responding to David Hartline's article in the Catholic Report posted by Between the Lines in #8, not the main article at the head of the thread. IMO, people on either side of the Christian divide, be they Catholics or Protestants, who state that others are going to hell for their beliefs have moved from objective discernment -- a good thing -- to subjective judgment -- a bad thing.

Anyway, to answer your question, no, I'm not sure they're evangelicals, and yes, I agree that it doesn't sound very Christian.

>>Though I posted an article from a Catholic website and posted it to a Catholic thread, I am a Protestant. I am sorry I did not make this clear in my first post, but I think it disruptive to post such things when all I was trying to do was be informative.<

Please define "such things".

Maybe next year the Fourth Degree Knight of Coilumbus will care mace instead of swords ;-).

Last night at our Shrine to the Blessed Mother when it came time for Father to Elevate the Host it was neat to see the Knights with their swords at attention to Protect Our Lord. We have Caldeans, Italians, Polish, Germans, and even some of our Orthodox friends come to honor the Blessed Mother in our little Shrine in Detroit every August 15th. All these fools do is strenghten the Faith. Frankly, it doesn't sound like Evangelicals, more like radical Pentecostals of the C. Peter Wagner type - they've been known to do this sort of thing in So. Ameica. This must be a radical off shoot as most of the Evangelicals around here are pretty friendly.

Persecutions have begun. But do we roll over and die or do we fight. I say if they "diss" our Blessed Mother and mock our Holy Faith, then their faces are gonna mop gravel before I'm going down.

BANSHEE ALERT!

Even though I have come to believe that alot of this stuff is "made up" and kind of silly, even I am not so obnoxious as to leave a bunch of folks alone who are merely expressing their faith.

These guys are morons and give the rest of us skeptics a bad name.

OK, but how do you explain Papal infallability? Sainthood? The elevation of Mary to quasi-divine status?

Persecutions are ongoing and sometimes most brutal among family and friends.

(See my profile for my current crusade.)

The way things are going I'm going to wear a chainmaille mantilla and exchange my handbag for a shellaillagh.

"The Gangs of New York", a film from a couple of years ago, gave only a glimpse of the hostility of the Nativists to the Church. Bishop John Hughes was shown at the entrace to a new church (St. Patrick's?), which was being prtected by the Irish. Says a lot that the screen play didn't portray Msgr. Hughes, since he was the defacto leader of the Irish in New York. He was one who helped end the Draft riots, because he was one of the few that the Irish would listen to. THAT doesn't make it into the movie.

Anyone have any information on this? Who is this Minister of Annoyance guy?

I don't, but it would appear that the name it is an accurate description.

Sounds like a Monty Python group.

Which gives us a clue on how to take care of them.

So, does the veil go over or under the hat?

Not yet, but I have a plan. There are a number of us at my parish who are starting to come with heads covered and even more who are wearing tasteful long skirts and blouses.

Fight the good fight. All of your Catholic sisters on FR should read your excellent profile.

I agree. It's an article I found on the internet. One of many on the topic.

You question the man (and his successors) to whom Jesus gave the Keys to Heaven? Read the Bible Matthew 16 and beyond.

Saints are exemplary Christians worthy of fondness, devotion, study, reverence .... like our favorite uncles who we esteem very highly.

No Protestants are Saints and nor will they be.

Nobody raises Mary to quasi divine status...but she sure was the first Christian, 100% human but full of grace, she was blessed as was the fruit of her womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for sinners, now and at the our of hour death....we need it!

Just read about the Cadaver Trial : "Pope Formosus's Corpse Found Guilty" - does one of your colored boxes put this in context with Papal infallibility?
