National Episcopal Scouters Association
The National Episcopal Scouters Association invites you to visit the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia, July 25 to August 2.
Over 40,000 youth and adult leaders from all over the US and the world will gather for eight days of fun and Scoutcraft. The National Episcopal Scouters Association will share a booth with the Episcopal Church in the Relationships Exhibits area.
The mission of the National Episcopal Scouters Association is to encourage parishes to sponsor Boy Scout Troops, and to encourage youth to earn the Episcopal God & Country Award.
For information about the National Episcopal Scouters Association, please visit the website at:
http://www.episcopal-scouting.org/
Membership in the Association is open to Episcopalians, continuing and orthodox Anglicans, and anyone else who supports Scouting.
Membership is not limited to Boy Scout volunteers; adult volunteers in Girl Scouts, Campfire, 4-H and other youth-serving organizations are invited to join, as well as adults who are not members of youth serving organizations but who nonetheless support Scouting.

Episcopal Scouters?
Now there's an oxymoron.
BSA, Sam Houston Council Does your ECUSA (NCC-related?) organization truly indeed proffer badges for:
AFL-CIO Wood Badge Scholarship Program
A program that assists selected union members in acquiring skills that will equip them to serve the youth of their communities better. Twelve scholarships, two for each BSA region, are awarded annually.
American Humanics Inc. A nonprofit organization that provides curricula and support to selected universities and colleges for the development and certification of potential professionals for nonprofit, human service organizations.
Is your specific group "inclusive" meaning.. accepting of gay leaders?
Episcopal Scouters discussion forum
One of dozens of lists for scouters, this one is for Episcopalian scouts and scouters. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire, Cub Scouts, Eagle Scouts. All welcome. Any and all are welcome to discuss: Duty to God, Scouting in the Church, the religious emblems program, camp chaplaincy, etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in reading the official Scouters Page -- Scouters is not the actual BSA org. Not really BSA, not really Episcopalian.. it's something else?
I am an Episcopal Scouter. What do you mean?
The term "Scouter" refers to a registered adult volunteer in the BSA. Cubmasters, Den Leaders, Committee Members, Merit Badge Counselors, Unit Commissioners, etc., etc., are collectively referred to as "Scouters".
So an Episcopal Scouter would be someone who is Episcopalian and is a registered Scouter. A Catholic Scouter would be someone who is Catholic and is a registered Scouter, etc., etc. It is not the name of a non-BSA organization, but is simply an identifier of both the individual's religous and Scouting affiliations. Mr. Goodwin has put together an organization where Episcopal Scouters can associate together to discuss common problems and issues.
Sounds like an event which would attract the interest of the Bishop from New Hampshire.
I would hope the appearance of a group of Episcopalian Scouters at the Jamboree would attract the attention of the Bishop of Virginia; at least, I believe that is the Diocese that the Jamboree is being held in. But he may not know of it (the Episcopalian Scouter group, not the Jamboree).
Thank you, Yes, I thought I did know what "Scouter"referred to.
Okay.. but the boards say that all are welcome including 4-H, etc. ECUSA. I see. Some ECUSA parishes still have some semblance of orthodox sanity left, but it won't be for long, IMHO. Thanks for explaining.
Any word if the President will stop in?
I'm not sure what the point of your first post is. You include a link to the Sam Houston Council's glossary page, and then ask "Does your ECUSA (NCC-related?) organization truly indeed proffer badges for:" various things on there. There's other links as well that I can't figure out what you were getting at. Mr. Goodwin's organization doesn't hand out any awards.
As far as accepting of gay leaders; there's no context in the list where the sexual orientation or practices of a poster should come up. Mr. Goodwin has banned discussion of the issues of atheism and homosexuality on the list. I expect that if someone got on and made a point of discussing their sexuality, they'd be banned. And if they got on and started discussing whether or not the BSA should accept gay leaders, they should also be banned. So the list doesn't know whether a poster is gay or not.
Look, I'm not intending any offense here. I was very confused by the organization, and what it's for. I might still be confused. But I'm glad I know about the organization. Thank you.
No offense taken. I just wasn't clear on your point. 'Nuff said!
The Boy Scouts are certainly not welcome in my diocese. But then again, as an orthodox Christian, neither am I. Which is why I am no longer an Episcopalian.
What diocese is that?
You'd be surprised. I'm in the Diocese of Chicago, where both our Bishops voted for the consecration of V. Gene Robinson. There is strong support for that kind of thing in Chicago, but in the suburbs there is a much different sentiment.
I was told by an attendee at the last Diocesean Convention that the folks from downtown were quite surprised that the folks from the suburbs DIDN'T support this. But there are two Episcopal parishes in my district that sponsor Packs and Troops.
Hawaii.
Are there any orthodox parishes in your Diocese?
I know of none, at least not any that are willing to say anything publicly. At this point, most Episcopal churches are empty or small and shrinking fast.
I just heard the horrid news about the tragedy at th Scouters Jamboree. Are YOU OKAY? My deepest sympathies, and prayers for all there, and their families.
