I am new to posting at FR, although I've read the site often over the years, but, anyway, I am not sure how to go about requesting prayers -- if I'm supposed to enlist in some process or not -- so I decided to just go ahead and post a request directly. I am sure someone will explain any set procedure otherwise.
The prayer request I am making is for immediate helps. I hesitate to explain the specific circumstances but, generally, the situation is thus: I am being harmed by the bad intentions of others who are negatively impacting a service that I rely on, and by doing so, creating harms upon me, my life and circumstances.
If you've ever dealt with a local organization that is supposed to be organized and regulated by a federal agency, federal legislation, but which "interprets" and "edits" the legislation to suit whatever or whomever, and by that process interferes negatively on the lives of others by interfering with citizens' interaction with that federal legislation...inexplicably, without provocation, just because they can.
I met with some of these people this past week and my intuitive perspectives were confirmed (and confirmed afterward by someone who accompanied me) and that was that individuals involved in this situation (not of my choice or selection, I just have to work with these people by organization) were alarmingly negative without acceptable cause to and about me, that I'd presented accurate information in light of the legislation concerned but that, oddly, those to whom I presented it were, for lack of a better word, "dark" in their presence and in reference to me and what I'd presented. The person who accompanied me remarked that the body language alone of a few present was "surprising" in how "obviously" bothered about me they were. Which revealed by meeting them -- prior to the meeting, only in correspondence and/or by committee name only -- that what I puzzled about up to this point as to inexplicable and unsupportable decisions were, in fact, conclusions being made motivated by bad intentions and not (at all) by the legislation involved that requires, to the contrary, certain successful actions.
This is one of those situations that regardless of how much accuracy that is substantiated by federal legislation is presented, a small group of people affected toward the negative are harming others (me, specifically) by denying the legislation and who appear to fear no recourse, no authority to correct them or intervene (the federal level is notoriously deflective toward the local group, unfortunately, because, as was explained to me on a telephone call to a D.C. office, they "we just don't have the manpower to investigate complaints").
So, what appears to have occured is that a certain intermediate group has grown far too unbridled in their presumptuous "rewriting" of existing federal legislation and it has created real harms to me, and others of similar circumstances.
I really need prayer. The negativity is inexplicable, but obvious -- whatever burr under the blanket of this small intermediate group is, it's obviously there but they aren't explaining it but they sure do give themselves away when you see their body language and observe and experience their awful mismanagement of millions of federal dollars.
Please pray for me. I am asking for ongoing prayer through this week, especially.
I am a Christian, a Catholic, and a few local persons have also prayed for me, and, a person who attended with me the meeting of last week is also a Catholic, a very faithful person. Even he commented after the meeting that certain individuals were noticably and oddly unnerved about me, by their very body language.
So, something dark is about. Not in me, but in those who are now affecting me with actions that I find are inspired by it.
You are going to have to be a little more specific, than 'dark'. Tough to pray for the resolution of something with no description. Speak plainly, are you against Social Security reform?
No, this isn't about Social Security and, no, I am not "against Social Security reform."
It's not about any financial or "entitlement" issue.
There's a federal title that is very clear about the issues I'm referring to here, although it's many hundreds of pages long, it's still clear in specific conditions, areas of concern (anyone can read it, is the problem for this local group, because by reading the Title, it clearly identifies where they are compromising the legislation).
It's not an entitlement issue. And, by "dark," I mean that people who are obviously not with Christ, are not saved, and because of that, are influenced and led by other elements, have appeared in my life for purposes of attempting to proliferate a wrong.
It's "dark." It's also evil. However, they're the group I have to work with here.
I'm probably going to write to my Congressman about this, given that he's recently been nominated to an office by President Bush -- and he's a conservative Republican I admire and have voted for so I would find his response believable and reliable -- but the immediate situation is grim and has very much offended me (meaning, it's both depressed and upset my Irish, and, it has and is testing my faith, which, in my experience, evil does).
Prayers that those making the decisions that affect you may be enlightened to the truth. Amen.

Another bit of information is that one of the most obstructionist in this small group self identifies as some sort of activist with a Senior Helps group...I'm not a "Senior" and this woman seems far too aggressively negative toward me to make any sense to reality, defying even the legislation involved inorder to apply a lot of "shoulds" and "might nots" and such...clearly a discriminatory state of mind, communicates a clear disregard for the Title (legislation) in favor of her emotional sense of what ought to be and should be and such.
The larger issue to me is that they are defying the federal Title in application based upon emotional sense of resentment and such...whatever.
I'll survive, but it's a very big offense to me to experience this.
I am not asking for prayer for "a check" or something like that. I'm asking for spiritual helps here. Criticism and politics will only serve the already involved individuals' irreverant actions that create harm.

As far as I know, you have done it just right.

Until I noticed that you are from California, I thought you were talking about a situation locally. In your generalized terms, it is identical. Based on that similarity, it may not be a reaction to you, as a human being. It may well be that the proposal, or application, you presented is seen by them as something which endangers their “game.”
What I mean, is that they have built themselves a little fiefdom which uses the power of the law to control other people, but they cannot be held accountable to follow that same law. If your proposal is clearly allowed by law, but does not fit their desires, they may be afraid that their corruption will be brought to light.

Ahhh, so I see. Thanks for that. All the more reason to pray not only for me (I need some support here, because I know that I have not acted with any harms in my mind and heart to or about anyone, have not behaved in any fashion that I feel remorse about or should, and I have not felt so much intimidated as a sense of real anger that they appear to be so negatively affecting other people who are otherwise addressed by this Title, and yet being denied access to and by it because of a small group of intermediaries...who are actually not even taking the Title into specific consideration!
That last part is where I experience anger...they obviously dislike me on a personal level and that's something I can live with (I think I'd feel uncomfortable if I thought they DID "like" me, is what I mean, under the circumstances). But that they are systematically, basically, "interpreting" federal legislation that is as specific as all 800 pages or so of it can be (about one area, one "thing"), I find myself quite alarmed that this can be occuring, and is, based upon what I've observed and experienced.
But, yes, you're right as to what you've described. That they could be/would be "exposed" is, in fact, what seems to be motivating their intensity. Otherwise, I can't figure out what's the deal here...evil makes a visit, I guess.
I used an expression that other Christians of other denominations might recognize.
Salvation is through Christ. I do understand and accept Catholic instruction about this issue, however, if that's what you're asking.
I didn't anticipate a dogma discussion here, however. Although if you'd like to write about that, I'd find reading it worthwhile as I'm sure others would, too.
I attend Mass and receive Communion, I've been baptised and confirmed in the Catholic Church, I abide by the Vatican authority, if that's what you're asking.
My dad was a Catholic Priest (after I was born, converted and was confirmed a Catholic Priest).
Unfortunately, he's no longer here to talk this over with, but I've been saying some prayers for his intercession, particularly being that Father's Day is tomorrow.
Now I'm depressed again. Sorry.

Have no fear, you will be offered up at Mass, I will say rosaries for you. It is important that you go to confession, you have to attend daily Mass for strength (this will heal and give you better discernment in what the Lord is asking you to do), talk to your spiritual director (if you don't have one, a holy priest) and continually ask for the Lord's mercy and justice. The most important thing to pray for is strength that you may accept his will.

P.S. This is an exterior attack, don't despair. The good news is: Those who practice evil are so overconfident that they make mistakes in their pride. The body language and them being uncomfortable means you are doing something right. Don't think otherwise. Remember, you are a Catholic and have the best of both worlds...you can offer it up for them (the best holy revenge), say your morning offering, offer all your work, prayers, joys and sufferings of the day to Our Lord in union with his suffering. Don't look at things in a worldly sense...you have to flip it...you are in the world, not of it; That's why you can see it and others seem not to. Evil is trembling in its hooves...and it should. We know how the story ends. Have courage.
