Presiding Bishop Frank T. Griswold has confirmed that he will be among the international delegation present in Seattle, Wash., on May 16 for the release of a joint statement of understanding on the place of Mary in the doctrine and life of the Church.
The document, Mary: Grace and Hope in Christ, draws together five years of work by the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC), a dialogue officially sponsored by the Anglican Consultative Council and by the Vaticans Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
After months of public ecumenical consultations and unpublicized intrigue after the 2003 General Convention, Bishop Griswold resigned as ARCIC co-chair on Nov. 29, 2003. In issuing the invitation for Bishop Griswold to attend, a spokesperson for Seattle Archbishop and ARCIC co-chair Alexander J. Brunett said Bishop Griswolds contribution to this important aspect of Christian faith was substantial and therefore his presence seemed appropriate.
Neither Lambeth Palace nor the Anglican Communion Office (the executive office of the ACC) were aware of the invitation, or of Bishop Griswolds intention to attend the launch.
The Rev. Canon Gregory Cameron, deputy secretary general of the ACC and director of Ecumenical Affairs at the Anglican Communion Office, said the official delegation from the Anglican Communion consisted of himself in his capacity as co-secretary, and the retired Australian Primate, Archbishop Peter Carnley, who replaced Bishop Griswold as the Anglican co-chair to ARCIC.

Thanks for the ping, murphE. God bless.
"I can tell you one thing, from this single "Orthodoxer's" pov, the input of a heresiarch like Griswold in any theological document would mean there is only one proper place for it, the fireplace."
Can't argue with that! Although inserting sideways at high velocity into a certain part of Griswold's anatomy might also have some appeal. ;)
The RC Archbishop of Seattle, if I'm thinking of the right guy, shocked and disgusted Catholics across America when he got elected head of the US Council of Catholic Bishops. His diocese is notorious for heresy, and the most financially devestated from sex-abuse payouts. But it's not all the current bishop's fault:
Archbishop Hunthausen was formally found to be a heretic. A "coadjutor bishop," Thomas Murphy, took over running the diocese, until Hunthausen retired while still very healthy several years before normal retirement age.
Joseph Brunett was consercrated by notorious San Francisco Archbishop William Levada.
For clarity: Brunett is the current Archbishop of Seattle. Hunthausen was penalized in 1986, and retired in 1990
LOL!
