Excerpt from my church bulletin
This weekend we rededicate our processional cross..... The weight and design of the original cross makes it difficult for many to carry. The new cross is a smaller and lighter cross that can easily be carried by most parishioners. It has been designed to the exact pattern and dimension of the original, so that when it is "hung" on the original cross, it disappears into it.....
Uh... you protestants... and even you non-Christians ... this just might apply to you also. Don't we all want the easy way ?
How you make a leap from a functional change to a lecture on "the easy way" is incomprehensible.
You're right about this. The standard is no standard; let's not call abortion a grave sin, let's call it sad, and that's sad for the mother, mind you.
Thought you'd like to know that this post and thread was a disappointment to me because I cannot make much sense out of it. I read each item and go away not knowing what this is all about. Do you prefer the old cross? Is the new on a resurrexifix? Are there people in control who want to change the 10 commandments somehow?
But, but guilt-free-sin is the PC thing to do and it sells lots of books as well.
Recently, I was commenting to a non-Catholic Christian friend about how Joel Osteen's book sells guilt-free-sin and religion lite. She said that guilt was from satan. God didn't want people to feel guilty. M'kay.
You are correct Jaded...far too many forget or blatently ignore to acknowledge their sinful nature... our conscious is designed to produce guilt and so we should feel guilt for our sin...However we must ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS balance the guilt (the law) with joy knowing that God has forgiven the sin of all thru the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus (the gospel). As is said, those who believe in Him will receive life eternal. Only Christ's sacrifice offer us this salvation...Be baptized, believe in this promise and repent genuinely as God commands and ye shall sit at the right hand of God just as the lowly criminal who was crucified at Jesus' left did after his death on Good Friday...What a wonderful promise and loving God!
