| INTROIT Psalm 138 18, 5, 6 I arose, and am still with Thee, alleluia; Thou hast laid Thy hand upon me, alleluia; Thy knowledge is become wonderful, alleluia, alleluia. -- (Ps. 138. 1, 2). Lord, Thou hast searched Me and known Me; Thou knowest my sitting down and My rising up. V.: Glory to the Father . . . -- I arose, and am still with Thee, alleluia . . . |

| COLLECT - O God, who, on this day, through Thine only-begotten Son, hast conquered death, and thrown open to us the gate of everlasting life, give effect by thine aid to our desires, which Thou dost anticipate and inspire. Through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost . . . | |||||

| GRADUAL Psalm 117: 24,1 This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us rejoice and be glad in it. V.: Give praise unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Alleluia, alleluia. V.: (I Cor. 5. 7). Christ our Pasch is immolated. |

| SEQUENCE Christians! to the Paschal Victim offer your thankful praises. The Lamb the sheep redeemeth: Christ, who only is sinless, reconcileth sinners to the Father. Death and life contended in that conflict stupendous: the Prince of Life, who died, deathless reigneth. Speak, Mary, declaring what thou sawest wayfaring. "The tomb of Christ who now liveth: and likewise the glory of the Risen. Bright Angels attesting, the shroud and napkin resting. Yea, Christ my hope is arisen: to Galilee He goeth before you." We know that Christ is risen, henceforth ever living: Have mercy, Victor King, pardon giving. Amen. Alleluia.

| OFFERTORY Psalm 75: 9-10 The earth trembled and was still when God arose in judgment, alleluia. |

| SECRET - We beseech Thee, O Lord, accept the prayers of Thy people together with the Sacrifice they offer, that what has been begun by the Paschal Mysteries, by Thy working may profit us unto eternal healing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth . . . . . | |||||
| PREFACE (Preface for Easter) -It it truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, at all times to praise Thee, O Lord, but more gloriously especially this day when Christ our Pasch was sacrificed. For He is the Lamb Who hath taken away the sins of the world: Who by dying hath destroyed our death: and by rising again hath restored us to life. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying: | |||||
| SPECIAL FORM OF COMMUNICANTES (Communicantes for Easter) - Communicating, and keeping this most holy day of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh; and also reverencing the memory, first, of the glorious Mary, ever Virgin, Mother of the same our God and Lord Jesus Christ: as also . . . | |||||
| SPECIAL FORM OF HANC IGITUR - We therefore beseech Thee, O Lord, graciously to accept this oblation of our service, as also of Thy whole family, which we make unto Thee on behalf of these whom Thou hast vouchsafed to bring to a new birth by water and the Holy Ghost, granting them remission of all their sins: and to dispose our days in Thy peace, preserve us from final damnation and rank us in the number of Thine Elect. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. |
|||||
| COMMUNION I Corinthians 5: 7, 8 Christ our Pasch is immolated, alleluia: therefore let us feast with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. |
|||||
| POST COMMUNION - Pour forth upon us, O Lord, the spirit of Thy love, that, by Thy loving kindness, Thou mayest make to be of one mind those whom Thou hast satisfied with the Paschal Sacraments. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost . . .

Sunday Mass ping.
Thanks for posting, and pinging. Anyone going to the vigil mass tonight?
The one at my chapel starts at 10 PM. I'll be going.
Let me tell you, you don't post in vain, and here's why: because of the kids, we sit in the way back and can't hear everything. Depending on the situation, I may or may not audibly be able to pick up on the entire readings. Reading them here first or after... happens.
Even if we hear them ok, if they are read beforehand, it helps.
So nothing is in vain. Thanks again.
Christ is risen. He is risen indeed!
Happy Easter to all FReepers reading this thread!
Here's wishing you a happy Easter, AAABest! Thanks for posting these threads.
Just got back. Best liturgy of the year. Never miss it. Happy Easter.
The Lord is Risen! Alleluia!
Christ is risen and you shall see your hope and mine in Gallilee!!!!!!! Allelluia,Allelliua Alleluia!!!!
Dominus Vobiscum
I went to my first Traditional Easter Vigil last night it was AWESOME! I didn't get home until after 2AM. I took my daughter to mass this morning...now I'm dragging, but it was worth it. I think I will have an Easter nap today. A Blessed Easter to everyone!
Happy Easter to all Freepers, including my brother and sister traditionalist Catholics -- although I have had rather heated words with you on occasion, I admire and find inspirational your devotion to Christ, both Tradition and tradition and the Deposit of Faith. Christus surrexit hodie! Alleluia!
FROM THE CATECHETICAL ADDRESS
OF ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM:
If any person is devout and loves God, let him come
to this radiant triumphant feast.
If any person is a wise follower, let him enter
into the day of the Lords rejoicing...
Therefore, all of you, enter into the joy of your Lord.
Rich and poor together, hold high festival.
Diligent and heedless, honor this day.
Both you who have fasted, and you who did not fast,
rejoice together this day.
The table is full, all of you, feast sumptuously.
The calf is fatted, let no one go away hungry.
Enjoy the feast of feasts, receive the riches of Gods mercy.
Let no one bewail his poverty,
for the fullness of the kingdom is revealed.
Let no one weep for his iniquities,
for forgiveness shines forth from the grave.
Let no one fear death, for the saviors death has set us free.
He who was held prisoner by death has annihilated it.
By descending into death, he made death captive...
O Death, where is your sting?
O Grave, where is your victory?
Christ is risen and you are overthrown.
Christ is risen and the devils have fallen.
Christ is risen and the angels rejoice.
Christ is risen and life reigns.
Christ is risen and not one dead remains in the grave.
For Christ, being raised from the dead, is become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep, and to him be glory and honor even to eternity, AMEN
"O Death, where is your sting?" bump.
Thanks for the ping. And a Blessed Easter to all.
Happy Easter to you too.
