Purpose Driven Life
Posted on 03/14/2005 10:28:37 AM PST by blue-duncan
For all of you Rick Warren fans out there, did you happen to catch the interview with the Brian Nichols, ex-hostage Ashley Smith? She was reading "Purpose Driven Life" as part of her devotions and read part of chapter 33 to him and then asked him what he thought his purpose in life was. This was part of the discussion that convinced Nichols to give himself up. We should all have her boldness in the face of trials.

"Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated." There are a lot of concepts that we use loosely because of our creatureliness (how's that for a word?) that we are going to find out our definitions are more sentimental than God's.I agree.

Did a bit of googling and it appears that the methodology of the NCAA in evaluating graduation success is worse than its compliance with its own investigative rules related to the Neuheisal case.
It appears that Cincinnati does pretty well in graduating its players, especially considering that it does take some academic risks other schools might unfairly reject.

That will all change when they come into the Big East. As long as they only commit misdemeanors and complete their eligibility or their roll play before their academics catch up to them, we count that as success.

We did sacrifice Lowe, Garciapara and Martinez to the lesser god Salary Cap, and we shall see what we get in return.

Many churches are using Warren's work in place of the BibleI'm curious. How do you know this? Frankly, I'm skeptical.

Huggins is a great coach. Cincy is moving to the Big East next year...and it will be the best basketball conference in the nation...It will pick up Cincy, Louisville, Marquette, and DePaul.
If this enables Huggins ever to get a couple of top 100 players with some height at the same time, then everyone watch out.
Pitino has already done it. His incoming class with boast 2 7 footers, 1 6-10, and 1 6-9 + an all-american level 6-5 guard. Pitino will take the 2007 NCAA championship for sure.

First-hand experience and research.
You can find a lot of glowing reviews of PDL, but you can also find a number of "after-effect" criticisms.

I think Pitino also got a transfer from Kansas this year who will be eligible to play next year. Don't recall his name off hand, but he was one of the top national recruits as a HS senior from somewhere in NV.

Her is a link showing a showing Rick Warrens connection to the Rockefeller foundation and to the Henry Luce Foundation(Henry Luce was a high ranking Freemason)
Maybe this is where he gets his Eastern Mysticism practices from.(you will have to scroll down to find it)

I think the U of Washington has one of the best recruiting classes in the country lined up for next year, even better than Louisville.

It appears that Cincinnati does pretty well in graduating its players, especially considering that it does take some academic risks other schools might unfairly reject. That's true for a lot of schools. Jim Valvano at NC State in the 80's took a lot of heat over graduation rates, but when compared to the general population was about 3% higher, and he did take a lot of academic risks. Chris Washburn being the biggest of them.

What has Rick Warren ever done to you that he deserves such contempt?
BTW what church to you go to?
I'd be willing to bet I can find a dozen internet sites that would claim that the leadership in your church has links to new age organizations or that your church teaches some kind of damnable heresy.

As long as they only commit misdemeanors and complete their eligibility or their roll play before their academics catch up to them, we count that as success.LOL, that sounds virtuous compared to the Clemson football program. The three trike rule applies there. Three class A felonies and you're out.

We did sacrifice Lowe, Garciapara and Martinez to the lesser god Salary Cap, and we shall see what we get in return.Losing Lowe and Garciapara will hurt for sure. Pedro I'm not so sure about. Your Sox should be able to be competitive while rebuilding anyway.

UNC has an excellent recruiting class coming in too, but not too much was needed, the present team is loaded with youth and talent.
To: Joe.E.Sixpack
Now wait a minute! "Yeah, but can they chew gum and walk at the same time? :-)" When did that become a requirement? We have some recruits at UCONN taking remedial name writing and that is taking up most of their time. If they have to multi-task, they will be on social security before they can play.

Is there a reason it's called "free" mason?
Ask rev...he's "free" methodist....maybe the "free" people share secrets with one another.

Wow, I didn't know Rev. Warren asked Drucker a question or I would never have taken part in that successful 40 Days of Purpose that saw people come to the Lord and many people in my church get turned on to Bible study. Who knew? I remember representing an arsonist once and asking him what compelled him to light fires and now I seem to enjoy my fireplace in the evening more than I used to. But I noticed in the article a major flaw that would have convinced me that the writer had something. Most of those seminaries accept government student loans so they really can't be teaching religion. They are probably teaching philosophy, disguised as religion and business management in place of church management. And I am sure Fuller is teaching, can I say it, Praise Hymns, since Wimber used to teach there. Do I sound sincere enough?
To: blue-duncan
I know what you mean. At UNC there is a course called, "The History of Basketball". Some of the questions on a test are really tough ones like,
How many points does a scoring player get credit for on a two point basket? How high is the standard college basketball goal set in feet?
