Look at the pictures of Leonardo's "Last Supper" before and after restoration. Then think of the big to-do about Mary Magdalen's allegedly sitting next to Christ in this painting. Then prepare to laugh -- and get mad at the thought of so many souls torn away from Christ because of Dan Brown's lying book.
That can't be real... there would have been a serious firestorm if there was such a major alteration to that painting, no?
Not sure. There would have been a serious firestorm if a network like CNN was caught protecting Saddam. ;)
The pictures of Jesus are not presented in the same aspect ratio... the one on the right, described as "thinned down", is thin because someone compressed the picture in the horizontal direction.
We are warned about graven images....there was no Photoshop in ancient Israel so we have to assume this is all legit.
/sarc OFF.
The Jesus Seminar, The Da Vinci Code and so many others are deliberately or ignorantly leading many from the Truth. And if the Left can keep all Bibles, Ten Commandments and Prayer out of all TAXPAYER-FUNDED public places, the "Truth" is at risk of becoming whatever The Ministry Of Truth says it is today.
I found this was good for looking up-close:

Re Dan Brown. I did read the Code and enjoyed it very much. But we need to look at it as a thriller, not as art historically nor biblically correct. I know many of the art works in the book very well, but for the life of me I can't remember any of his "facts" now as I teach the works (in the traditional way).
I wouldn't worry about Brown siphoning off believers. I like the fact that he is getting people to look at art in a new way. And, from my perspective, if more people are going to Europe to see the art works he discusses, that's great.
And an early post was quite correct: all art images are reconstructed as the artist sees the event. They are an interpretation of form and content (meaning through shape, color, etc.), not facts.
Thanks again for the cool link.
If you see the Leonardo DiVincis painting the Last Supper as art,
it is wonderful to behold but poor technique
If you see the painting as history
you are mislead
If you use the painting for an understanding of Yshuas
last Pesach Seder you allow yourself to be seriously deceived.
First Century Seders were held lying on cushions
on a horseshoe shaped stone slab.
The host was positioned at one end
with the guest next to him followed by the most favored.
The host was Judas, the keeper of the money.
The guest was Yshua
Followed by John
Blessings to all, b'Shem Y'shua HaMashiach
Thank you. You explained it much better than I was able.
Blessings in His Holy Name.
The criticisms of the rework are real. The blogger's comments are fake. Jesus isn't "slimmed down"; the image is crunched horizontally.
