Dark allegations arise amid probe of nun's slaying

For Toledo police, it was a rare assignment: Search an abandoned house on the edge of a cornfield in western Lucas County where people reportedly took part in ritual abuse ceremonies.

The detectives combed the bedrooms, kitchen, and even the dark basement for evidence of cult gatherings.

The search of the decrepit, wood structure last year was a sign the investigation of the Rev. Gerald Robinson was moving beyond a murder case.

Four women told detectives about being abused between the late 1960s and 1986 during cult-like ceremonies involving altars and men dressed in robes, the accusers told The Blade.

re: ritual slaying/ sex abuse

They should look into the 1969 murder of a nun in Baltimore who supposedly had uncovered a sex abuse ring. And the slaying of a Catholic teacher at a school in Yonkers, NY, around 1965 or so who had learned too much about the deranged NY Son of Sam Cult based in Westchester.

Add Fr. Kuntz to that mix and that's quite an X-File to probe.

How far does this go? What will they find when all the dots are connected? Did Satanists or some other demented anti-Christian secret society infiltrate the Catholic Church to work destruction from within? Is there really any doubt about this anymore?

A STATEMENT FROM THE DIOCESE OF TOLEDO AND BISHOP LEONARD P. BLAIR:

April 27 – Toledo, Ohio - In the spring of 2003, the Oblates of St. Francis in Toledo asked that the Diocese of Toledo’s Review Board review an accusation regarding clerical sexual abuse allegations involving Oblate priests. The Oblates made this request of the diocese because they did not have a review board of their own.

The Review Board met on June 11, 2003. At that meeting, the Board listened to and received a written statement from a woman who made wide-ranging allegations of satanic cultic activity, including sexual abuse. Although the meeting was called because of accusations against Oblate priests, she also made allegations against numerous individuals, only some of whom are priests. One diocesan priest was among those mentioned: Father Gerald Robinson.

The Review Board felt that their recommendation concerning the credibility of the allegations against so many individuals first required a thorough investigation of the whole matter.

In order to accomplish this goal, two professional investigators have been working diligently on this difficult and complex case. On the basis of their completed work, the Review Board is to revisit the allegations in light of the investigation results that are presented to them.

In the course of our investigator’s work, the Lucas County Prosecutors’ office specifically asked them not to contact Father Robinson, because the Prosecutors’ office had opened its own investigation with regard to the murder of Sister Margaret Ann Pahl. The Diocese was also advised in confidence that the Prosecutor's Office had reopened its murder investigation. It should be noted that this murder was not mentioned in what had been presented to the Review Board by the alleged sexual abuse victim.

The steps that have been outlined above are entirely consistent with the sexual abuse policy of the Diocese of Toledo. Once an allegation against a cleric is deemed credible by the Bishop upon the recommendation of the Review Board, then the appropriate measures are taken in accordance with the policy. Because of the wide-ranging nature and scope of the allegations against many individuals in this case, and the need for a thorough investigation, a determination of credibility has yet to be made regarding an accusation of sexual abuse by Father Robinson.

If someone had come forward describing the Manson family before the Tate murders, the story would have sounded pretty bizarre and probably would not have been believed.

It's not just the Catholic Church, the LDS (Mormon) Church had several accusations in the early 1990's about this. One of their leaders (G. Pace) wrote a memo that got leaked to the press. The the Govenor, formed a investigative task force on this.

I have done a lot of reseach on this subject and the dots connect far past only one religion.

Right. It even looks like some of molestations going on in the church were committed by people who were not even remotely "Catholic" in any sense of the term. Quite a different story from the media spin.

The media has always been skeptical of RSA. I've seen this spin before, with the early 1990's allegations. I also know enough about real Satanism to not brush this off so quickly.

The media has indeed be skeptical of ritual sexual abuse - but not always for such reasons.

Such things are organized - well organized. If they take place in major cities and we have the mix of clergy, murder, ritual sex abuse/pedophilia, satanism, we have something which requires both cooperation and coverup.

Said cooperation & coverup can involve any or all of the following: media, law enforcement, civic officials, child care insitutions, and health care insitutions.

Here we speak of not only what can go on in some isolated Ohio farmhouse, but also what can happen in a busy metropolis.

We are speaking of a very serious endeavor which requires cooperation & secrecy.

Allegations about cult activities in Lucas County and northwestern Ohio go back a ways. They are in the 1988 book Cults That Kill: Probing the Underworld of Occult Crime by Larry Kahaner (Warner Books, 1988). According to the victims/witnesses it went back at least to the 1960s and had at least some police officers as members in it. The allegations in the book are quite similar and independent of this current murder investigation.

The suggestion that Paul Shanley was connected with a cult is made on an audio file here http://www.4acloserlook.com/february2005.html (scroll down to the Feb. 8, 2005 radio program). If true, an incredibly BIZARRE chapter in the molestation scandals.

I wish that this case was 2 months after the murder and not 25 years. That makes it real tough. I'm not surprised that the searches of the various locales where abuse is alleged to have occured have turned up nothing.

The whole story is beyond bizarre, especially with the "Sisters of Assumed Mary" in the picture. What, if anything, this has to do with the case, I'm not sure. The guy is a "lay minister" and dresses up in "nun drag"? Whatever.

The whole place sounds nuts.

I note with interest that some people not only do not believe that these things have and do take place, but that they do believe other stories - which are no less incredulous.......

Like that of the "boys From Brazil" incident among Black Episcopalian clergy in Brooklyn in the late 90s.

This involved teen boys and young men from Brazil who were used as virtual sex slaves, as well as in ritualized sado-masochistic sex which occurred in Episcopal church sanctuaries under cover of darkness. It was organized.

It also entailed an attempted cover-up by the Episcopal Bishop of the Diocese of Long Island, who was a good buddy of the several offending clerics.

At least the Episcopalians were awake enough to see this as an evil, and yell, scream, and demand clerical resignations, and withhold contributions.

We Catholics, by our inaction & silence are saying: "its OK, we approve, we wont rock the boat & will galdly give you more money". Its time to wake up & smell the.......buggery.

Oh.....I forgot one tiny little detail....the sado- masochistic sex rituals involved the wearing of drag.

So there!
