CATHOLIC WATCHDOG GROUP SAYS SPRINGFIELD BISHOP “IS OUT OF CONTROL AND CANNOT RUN HIS OWN DIOCESE”
Roman Catholic Faithful ^ | February 17, 2005

Posted on 02/20/2005 9:20:01 AM PST by Land of the Irish

The leader of a Catholic watchdog group announced today that the formation of a clergy misconduct review board, while a good idea, would merit “no credibility” if it failed to include his organization on its committee.

Stephen G. Brady, president of the Roman Catholic Faithful, Inc. (RCF) cited RCF’s investigation of former Springfield, IL Bishop Daniel Ryan in his organization’s ability to bring truth to the investigation. “RCF has been the only organization or individual with credibility in investigating Ryan and the clergy of this diocese since 1995,” Brady stated. “While the diocese repeatedly denied allegations against Ryan and belittled and mocked RCF, RCF was proven truthful resulting in [Ryan’s] removal from active ministry.”

Current Springfield Bishop George Lucas announced at a press conference earlier today that he has asked an independent (sic) team of investigators to examine allegations of clergy misconduct in the diocese.

In his response to the announcement, Brady stated: “Bishop Lucas seems to be admitting that the problem is out of control and he cannot run his own diocese.” Brady also questioned the propriety of the arrangement. “Who is paying for this work? Does the committee answer only to the Bishop? This Bishop has a history of protecting corrupt priests.”

In addition, Brady cited two of the prominent members named to the board as “wholly improper. First of all, the head of the team is Bill Roberts, who admitted knowing Bishop Lucas and regards him already as a ‘committed man of great conscience’. By his very statement, he betrays an existing bias and should be disqualified. In the case of the second member, Ellen Lynch, she is employed by a local Catholic diocese [Rockford in Illinois]. As such, she as well as any other employee of the Catholic Church demonstrates a conflict of interest and should be immediately disqualified.” Brady, instead, recommended that the team leader be selected by an independent organization, such as the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (www.ilchiefs.org).

Brady suggested that this action by Bishop Lucas “may be nothing more than a pre-emptive strike by the diocese, because the Bishop is aware that I have obtained first-hand testimony from an individual who claims to have engaged in homosexual sex with Lucas.”

I nominate Mary Jo White to head up the investigative team! She was great for the diocese of Albany.

bttt for Stephen Brady, a truly great Catholic.
If everyone in Springfield gave him money instead of the diocese, this scandal would be at least half over in a month.

Do not feed corrupt homo pro-abort Masonic clergy. Money talks!

...which will immediately give rise to the fight over which denomination the individual would belong to (to avoid anti-/pro-RC bias).

Ditto !!!

That is what I have been saying: cut off their lights, heat, food, pocket money........and then see how things start to turn around. Currently, US bishops are about as accountable with $$$ as the average politician.

If people are concerned about churches closing (as I am), frankly we might just have to let it happen, sad as that is. Let the masonic bishops steal the assets of parishes to feed their need to "live large", and pay for court settlements.

Those who wish to be truly Catholic can always build new churches........viz. the independant Traditional churches.

LIberal/gay/apostate/masonic clergy will tell you - as thye have told me: "oh, money is no problem". That is because the laity have been and are sheep.......generous, but foolish sheep.

The Church is imploding anyway due to the deeds of churchmen. It is only a matter of time - so, cut of the stream of cash to support their apostacising and profligrate lifestyles.

Than we can truly build anew.

"Do not feed corrupt homo pro-abort Masonic clergy."

Bishop Lucas's first act after his installation as bishop was to hold a reception at the Masonic temple in Springfield, Illinois.

LOL You stole my comment. The first thing I thought of was Albany revisited.

It must be SOP now to deflect any blame on yourself to put together a committee that you have in your pocket. It sounds like the DNC.

I don't know about anybody else, but I have abut this much > < faith left in the modern Church, not only to police itself, but in their holiness.

Pardon my saying so, but the silly smile makes Lucas look rather like a nancy boy.

http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/blucas.html

Here is info on Lucas episcopal consecration and line of succession. Follow the links carefully, and look at the names. It is not good. Remember, one who is to be made a bishop is nominated to that position by like minded bishops - and those who consecrate & co-consecrate are likeminded, and usually invited by the nominee to do the honors.

Look deeply and carefully.

Birds of a feather.

The selection-process is corrupt, the system is corrupt, Rome is corrupt. The Pope has instituted not a single reform in over twenty-five years.

Agreed. And what reforms JPII has tried to bring - or enforce have been ignored and laughed to scorn by his bishops.

Actually, this is the entire quote of St. John Eudes:

"The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict on the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clergy who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds. Instead of nourishing those committed to their care, they rend and devour them brutally. Instead of leading their people to God, they drag Christian souls into hell in their train. Instead of being the salt of the earth and the light of the world, they are its innocuous poison and its murky darkness. When God permits such things, it is a very positive proof that He is thoroughly angry with His people, and is visiting His most dreadful anger upon them. That is why He cries unceasingly to Christians, ‘Return, O ye revolting children... and I will give you pastors according to My own heart’ [Jer. 3:12-15]. Thus, irregularities in the lives of priests constitute a scourge visited upon the people in consequence of sin."

God Bless.

Yes she was. Bishop Hubbard is a wonderful man. He officiated at the Confirmation of all my children, as well as other special events up here in the North Country.

Praise Jesus Christ for all she did to prove his innocence.

Springfield, IL Bishop Daniel Ryan

Springfield? Ryan? Related to our indighted former Gov. George (spit) Ryan (RINO)? Or just sinister co-incidence?

Yes, I am a regular contributor to RCF and saw this in the Ad Majorem Gloriam Dei booklet he publishes periodically. There was a picture on the cover of him at that Masonic Temple.
