I just heard...Sister Lucia passed away! I can't find anything online yet, however...
A good book on this whole topic is Fatima in Twilight by Mark Fellows. Book description:
In 1917 Jesus Mother appeared to three children on a Portuguese hillside and gave them a message for the Church and the world. She confirmed the message was from Heaven by producing the Miracle of the Sun, a miraculous and terrifying event witnessed by tens of thousands of people, and reported in the secular press of the day. Then everyone moved on with the events of their lives. Ignored by the world, the Message of Fatima was revealed, slowly and by degrees, in the history of the Twentieth Century: the rise of Communism, the martyrdom of the good, and a worldwide descent into godlessness that has caused so much misery and confusion in our own day.
Many believe that the Third Secret of Fatima, never fully revealed by the Church, is writing the history of our new millennium. Can the message of Heaven given at Fatima really address our contemporary problems, and offer solutions that will benefit us in this life, and the next?

(It's the last book on that particular webpage)

Zenit added ten new articles since I checked this afternoon. Not one on Sr. Lucia's death. This is bizarre.

Fatima's Sister Lucy Dies at 97
Reuters News, Agence France Presse and other news agencies are reporting that Lucia de Jesus dos Santos, the last of three children favored with the vision died on Sunday, February 13.
Sister Lucy, 97, was the eldest of the shepherd children who in 1917 told of seeing apparitions of the Virgin Mary six times. She died at her Carmelite convent at Coimbra in central Portugal.
"She had been weak for several weeks and had not left her cell," Coimbra Bishop Albino Cleto told the Church's Radio Renascenca.
Lucia Dos Santos was born the youngest of seven children in a peasant family in Aljustrel, a village in central Portugal.
The events at Fatima unfolded against a backdrop of religious persecution under anti-clerical factions that ruled Portugal after the overthrow of the monarchy in 1910.
In 1916 she experienced her first vision, when an angel appeared to the children, she wrote in her memoirs.
On May 13, 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to her and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marta on an oak tree. On her last appearance before an estimated 50,000 onlookers, witnesses claim to have experienced a 15-minute spectacle of bright lights and rainbow colors.
In her memoirs, dos Santos said the Virgin Mary appeared to the children six times in 1917. Jacinta and Francisco died in the influenza pandemic in 1919 and 1920.
The two were beatified, the last step to sainthood, by Pope John Paul during his Fatima visit in 2000.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace, Amen.

I am speechless too, especially since zenit is ignoring it or delaying it to minimize the importance of it.
Ignoring it? or just trying to get their stories straight?
Would it appear in L'Osservatore Romano?
Any of the above.
I'm waiting for Tuesday's funeral. It should be revealing.
Tuesday does seem awfully soon, but if she is not to be embalmed it makes sense.
L'Osservatore...hm, in due time.
As for Zenit, I just got my email from them, no word, (before I read other's posts here) and I initially thought it must have been prepared and pre-sent before they got wind of it.
Some agencies have "timed" deliveries on their mass mailing, so as not to clog their system. Say, send this many now, this many then, this many then, etc.
Just my first impression.
I just want to see what Magister has to say on it, when he does...
Trying to get a death certificate dated anything but the 13th.
I shouldn't laugh on this thread, but that was a classic.
It does imply that there is something else that hasn't leaked out yet but just might (fromthe Carmelites?) and zenit wants to be ready to couch what ever it is. Or is Sr. Lucia now a non entity because they expect tremendous spin by the MSM and they want to dampen that?
What is RVM?
Hmmm......nothing is mentioned in this account of her suffering from blindness & deafness.
Is there more then one of her.......or can't they get the story straight?
I used to fill those certificates out and it wasn't something I could leave for the next shift at the hospital...but then she was in a Carmelite cell. Still it could not be timed after the news was officially released and I suppose the time was noted on the official statements and it would be noted on news tickers around the world.
This is truly momentous on many levels. If Sr. Lucia was to live until the "beginning of the end," we are, indeed, in the end times.
Of course, every indication shows that we are there.
Are there any signs missing? -- apostasy within the Church, cataclysmic geologic (volcanic eruptions, tsunami's, earthquakes)events, homosexuality and sins of the flesh everywhere, corruption of the priesthood and hierarchy like never before, rampant weather catastrophes, war, lack of faith, lack of hope, seeming lack of will to confront evil.
It has all been foretold in the Bible for those with eyes to read, ears to hear, and a willingness to understand and comprehend.
May God have mercy on us. Give us the strength to endure the pain of His rightful wrath upon the earth and all of us, as sinners.
The modernist Masonic cabal in the Vatican is probably using her death as an opportunity to test its media strategy for the Pope's death and conclave.
Ahhh, biut Judas never received the mark of the blood of the lamb, having stormed out before the seder was complete. :^)
