Bristling Epistle: An Open Letter To Cardinal Egan

I refuse to address anyone who comes into New York to destroy churches as “Cardinal” or “Your Eminence.”

I grew up in Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish. There I went to grammar school, received my sacraments, arranged my mother’s funeral, and for nine years worked as secretary in the parish office, where I also suffered a serious injury. Your lies and those of your PR man Joe Zwilling are all over the place, and I’m fed up with them.

This feisty open letter was written by Ms. Jocelyn Williams - a devout, well educated, cultured, African-American woman who is truly a "lady". She is not one normally inclined to such bluntness. But as a kindred soul caught up in the struggle to fight against "bishops" like Egan - who by their words & actions clearly show that they neither know nor serve Christ - I can totally understand her utter sense of frustration and anger over the cavalier and ruthless actions of "Cardinal" Egan.....running roughshod over the laity and Canon Law alike. Ms. Williams in her chagrin plainly tells it "like it is".

Ultimately it is the brutish insensitivity, financial greed, and total disregard to fr rights and feelings of the laity which cause normally placid individuals like Ms. Williams to explode in righteous anger.

Indeed she and many local Catholics are "mad as hell, and not going to take it anymore"!

Kindly read further in the anti-abomination website to understand the issues at stake, and then please comment.

A quick explanatory note: the Msgr. Harris referred to is Msgr. Wallace Harris, pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Church in central Harlem.

Under Harris (who is a modernist and total "company man" for the chancery), St. Charles has been transformed from a Catholic Church (which happened to be Black) to a shrine to modernism, with race/ethnicity used as the excuse/justification for it. Every body is smothered in Kente cloth, there is much liturgical dance, female dancing inscence bearers, much drumming, swaying, hand clapping, hollering.........eveything which could possibly make the performance of a mass disrespectful and even illicit.

Harris is the regional Vicar for the Archdiocese in the Harlem area, and has used this church and the Diocesan Office of Black mInistry as means to further the joyous spread of both modernism and liturgical madness. Hhe fancies St. Charles as the "cathedral of Harlem". Harris was also instrumental in the campaign of disinformation to close St. Thomas the Apostle church.

It should be noted that at St. Thomas, as well a at most of the other black churches in Harlem, the liturgical preference of the people is for reverence and respect to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and for dignity and beauty in the worship of Almighty God as devout African American Ladies and Gentlemen.

bump for later.

Thank you for being such a great defender of Catholicism despite all the resistance you encounter, particularly here on FR. God bless you!

How long will people put up with these bishops? No money for them, period, and even going to their masses should be seriously questioned, depending on circumstances. No money, that's easy, though. Give it to RCF.

Makes sense to me. Funding a modernist bishop is like giving money to a drug addict.
