What does the bible really say about infanticide (abortion)?

By Darren Morrison

You would be amazed to hear that there are professing Christians who claim to be pro-death. There are people who say infanticide is not wrong according to the bible. There are even liberal churches and I use the word “church” loosely here that take a pro-death stance. I heard a person once say “the bible says nothing about abortion”. I guess they just don’t ever read their bible. It is more likely they don’t even have a real one to begin with. But my bible, the King James Version, is clear; infanticide is wrong.

Before I continue this argument I would like to first clarify something. Abortion is the wrong word and it does not mean what it is used for. Abort means to change a mission in the middle. What people call abortion is not changing anything it is killing another human life. There is no aborting about it. It is only terminating one life for the selfish desires of another person.

The act of terminating an unborn life is epidemic in this country. It is used ninety-nine percent of the time as a form of birth control. The basic issue of the debate is whether life exists before birth; that is, in the womb.

Pro-death factions argue that an embryo is just a mass of cells and tissues. They claim that this unborn child is just part of the mother’s body. To them abortion is no different than having your tonsils removed or many other removal medical procedures. The bible does say that life begins before conception. God inspired David to write this. “Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them”. God knew us before we were ever made. So therefore if you believe the bible you can not believe that infanticide is anything but murder. When do we receive the sin nature? Before we are born. “Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me”.

Jeremiah was known of God before he was formed. “Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations”. I see this to say that what ever God designed us to be we were before we were ever conceived. A talented musician, a skillful surgeon, a great pastor, the man who will cure all forms of cancer or just the good Samaritan who would have pulled you out of a burning building. We are not just killing a child we are killing a person with certain skills and talents needed for the future.

As the baby develops physically in the womb, they also develop spiritually as well. As was in the case of John the Baptist. “Luke 1:44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy”.

The lord God gave promises concerning unborn children as we see in his word. Here were twins squabbling before birth. “Genesis 25:22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. 23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger”.

An unborn baby has a separate heartbeat, brainwaves and makes it’s own red and white blood cells. It is a big lie to say that the unborn baby is part of her body. The bible supports this and so does medical science. Infanticide is nothing more than the murder of an other human being and it is wrong. “Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill”.

I think the age of abortion should be raised to 21.
Just think how convenient it would for the mother to tell her child "Clean up the house you little bleep or I will abort you".:)

There's the difference.........."professing" is not the same as "confessing"!
They just "say" it. They can't believe.
They have never been "born-again" by the Spirit of the Living God.

The most recent stats I have at my fingertips are courtesy of the CDC, from 1997. In that year, 20.1% of women who had abortions were under 20 years old; 31.7% were women ages 20-24; 48.2% were women ages 25 and older.

Just so you know.

Also, Elizabeth's unborn chiled (John the Baptist) "leapt for joy" at the sight of the pregnant Mary, Mother of Jesus. And, do "believers who support abortion" believe Jesus was just another choice, too?

I'm a Pagan, not a Christian- and one of the most sacred symbols of my religion is a pregnant woman. To me, all life is sacred. If you're going to kill anything- be it a mosquito or a human- you'd better have a good reason. And you'd better be prepared to justify your decision in the afterlife.
I find it entertaining that some so-called 'christians' can be both 'pro-choice' and animal rights activists. This shows that they value animal life more than human life- revealing the deep self-hatred that the Adversary has infected them with.
It also bothers me that these same lost souls can take the sacred act that creates new life and turn it into something twisted, dark, filthy and disgusting.

Actually, I'd heard life really begins at 50.

Human life is not for us to take. Now if the law take a person who has commited a captial offence than I think that they, not me, can take that life. I do also beleiave that most child molesters and rapist should pay with there life. But we have to take every avenue to prove there guilt.
Beasts do not afford the same rights as humans. We should never kill a animal for no reason that is surly sin. Tommarrow I will take my son hunting for some ducks. If we kill some we will eat them. I like to hunt but if I kill it I will us it. As far as a mosquito, it is safe as long as it does not land on me, for if he does SLAP smashed mosquito. Mice carry deases and if they come into my house I hope my traps kill them. If a cat runs out infront of me I will not risk the lives of my family to miss that cat. I killed a fox last year becouse it darted out in front of my car and I was on a high way if I would have swerved I might have got into a wreak and if I had hit my brakes the tailgater would have hit me for sure.

I was a Pagan once, years ago but now I am a Christain and in fact I am preparing to become a Pastor of a Baptist Church.

If abortion is legal, could the parents "stay" the abortion? Don't kill the child in the womb, but reserve the right to kill 'em later if they turn out to be a punk or too much of a burden. Wait, no- that would be murder, wouldn't it?

"I think the age of abortion should be raised to 21."

Could you mean that the child is born and must be raised to the age of 21 before the "abortion" killing of that child, now an adult, can take place?

I should have said 20.999 years old.
I was making the point that the murder of a child is the same in the womb as near adult.

The democrap party has been quite successful in their longterm goals; America is now a Secular Humanist nation, pagan in most respects, primitive in a few respects (listened to the rap crap our kids ingest at every opportunity?), and downright barbaric inhumane in some respects (partial birth serial killing is barbaric and inhumane, Kerry's votes to protect the rites of Molech notwithstanding; stripping the body parts from embryo-aged humans for use in research and treatments of older humans is as much cannibalism as placing embryos on crackers to serve at tea for medical cures).

I was thinking that only a few years ago, any girl who had an "abortion" was considered a really bad girl to put it nicely. I would never have thought it would become the "norm" in society, and that those opposing the murder of innocent life would be considered the the bad ones. Dear God, what have we become?
