My husband, FReeper Lager, had surgery Friday 7/23 to remove a tumor from his tailbone (sacral chordoma, a very rare slow-growing . . . I don't want to say "cancer" but apparently that's what it is). This same tumor was removed 4 years ago in a 10-hour operation but the blankety-blank thing came back.
Friday's surgery was less intrusive and took only about 3 hrs but nevertheless, Scott is in a great deal of pain and depressed because he can't work.
While the surgeons were in there, they not only removed most of the tumor (plum size) but they also implanted "land marks" which will be in his bone for the rest of his life. After about a month of healing, he'll go back for 3 days of radiation administered by a robotic arm right to the spot where the land marks are. He can't have any visitors during the radiation because he'll be "hot". He's always been HOT to me but this is different.
Anyway, we sure would appreciate your prayers. The neurosurgeon told me that they were not able to get some of the tumor's "fingers" whatever that means. Hopefully they'll get it all during radiation and we can get on with our lives.
