I would like to ask for prayers for my father. He has a very unsual condition. He had heart surgery two years ago and was released from the hospital with nearly 20 lbs. of fluid retention. This ultimately developed into pnenmomia and the ensuing coughing was violent enough that he tore the wires that had been used to wire his sternum after the surgery. I guess this is extremely rare. He is very uncomfortable now and he has something akin to spasms in his chest from this condition. He went back to his surgeon and was told they could re-operate but they'd have to saw off each side of the sternum (to make them fit again) and then use muscle obtained from his abdomen to facilitate in the tissue/growth healing. It is pretty complicated and hard to explain and downright weird. But...they said the surgery is at least as dangerous as the first and that they could not guarantee it wouldn't rip open again. Meanwhile he is desperately miserable and does not know what to do. He is 75 and his name is John. If any of you have heard anything similar to this, I'd appreciate any information and of course, your prayers. He is also undergoing radiation treatment for prostrate cancer. When he gets the hot flashes from the prostate shot treatment it makes his breathing difficult and this is when he usually gets the worst chest spasms. Thanks and blessings to all.
Prayers for you Dad on the way.
I join in prayers for your father's healing!
Prayers to your father...May our Father place His healing hands upon him.

I had the operation. I could feel my rib cages or something moving for a long time. I still have to watch how much I lift.
Thank you for writing. I am so glad you healed from your surgery! My dads is so spread apart you can put your hand on his chest and feel the cavity. There is a possiblity that enough scar tissue will grow to fill it in a bit. That could take a long, long, time ... but with all these wonderful prayers I am very hopeful.
Thanks again!
How beautiful. My deepest gratitude.
My heart goes out to your father. I have never heard of this happening. Do they give him any hope of the condition clearing itself up over time? I am surprised they sent him home with all of that extra fluid to begin with. My prayers will be with him that God will intervene in his life and heal this pain.
Yes, releasing him with all that fluid was a bad move. Prior to the onset of the fluid he had breezed through the surgery.
They give him hope in that they say it is possible for enough scar tissue to grow to fill in the cavity. Of course, that is very "hopeful" and could take many years but with all of these wonderful prayers it is possible.
Prayers sent
I recently asked for prayers for my father and I just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful support and prayers. I can't offer much in the way of an update as his condition is one that seems not easily resolved. We are afraid to have him go through the surgery and the surgeon doesn't seem to want him too. It is wonderful to know there are so many caring people here on FR and when I put up that request and had your prayers it gave me immeasurable comfort. I so believe in the power of prayer and just handing some of the burden over to have others offer up their prayers felt wonderful. God bless all of you and thank you.
You are very nice and thank you. Eve and me are still praying.
