Put bluntly, anyone who says he has a well-formed conscience that stands opposed to the most fundamental moral teachings of our Church simply does NOT have a well-formed conscience. And lets not appeal to Vatican II to pretend that we do.
w00t! This guy is a straight shooter, God bless him. If he were in my diocese I might think about attending NO-masses again.

I will gladly kiss his ring. An authentic Shepherd. This is exactly what the Church needs.

I wouldn't rush too quickly to that. He inherited a mess of pottage from Bishop Hanifen. There is a LOT of work to be done before the N.O. is worth any attention in this diocese.

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow!
The time for the good shepherds to rise up is at hand. And it is the time for the hired hands and mitered wolves to fall. Oh how the Lavender Mafia will wail and gnash its teeth.
What a wonderful time to live, for the restoration of Holy Mother Church is at hand! I know it will come slowly, but not as slowly as the predators and devils would like. Hallelujah!

"The truth of God can be divisive. Jesus foretold this. Truth is especially divisive when it challenges opinions that we hold dear. Jesus wanted his followers to accept His truth rather than their own opinions. Some did and some did not. But Jesus never stopped teaching the truth. And the Church will never stop teaching the truth."
Wait a minute. What happened to "unity in diversity", and "building a civilization of love"?
Truth, what is that?

###"Of course not. But this is how my letter has been misrepresented. In hearing from some Catholics I learned that there is a certain way of thinking that suggests that the Eucharist has little or no relationship to the way we live our lives in the world. It seemed beyond comprehension to them that anything should ever separate them from the Eucharist. This way of thinking comes as no surprise if we simply take note of the fact that everyone receives Holy Communion on Sunday and almost no one goes to confession.
Turning to Sacred Scripture once again, we recall St. Pauls First Letter to the Corinthians in which the apostle expresses his concern that some in the Corinthian community were receiving the Eucharist unworthily. He had heard of behavior in the community that was so contrary to Christian teaching that he told the Corinthians to examine their consciences well. He did not hesitate to write that whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup unworthily sins against the body and blood of the Lord (1 Cor. 11:27). The Church has always held that a Catholic must approach Holy Communion in the state of grace. Anything less is a sacrilege."###
This is what it is all about.

Vintage Sheridan. Shoots from the hip and follows up later.
When he was our pastor, stuff like this happened a lot. He makes a move and doesn't expect people to take it badly and then corrects the record.
But he's always in the right.

Bwwwaaaa.... I want to move to Colorado... This is exactly the response I think our bishops should take... put the cards firmly on the table, but don't make martyrs out of the pro-aborts.
To: AAABEST
Wow. We so rarely hear bishops teaching the faith this clearly and boldly. Loud applause in his direction.
To: AAABEST
This Bishop's explanations were very lucid and direct. Thank you for the ping.
Can you post his next column explaining the Church's stand on the death penalty and war and give me ping?
To: AAABEST
BRAVO!!!!! It's so refreshing to read something like this from a Catholic bishop. I'm totally 'Vatican Twoed out' and I am starving for some authentic Catholic teaching.
