You're also pastor of St. Stephen's Church in Old Hickory and a member of the board of directors of Catholic Charities of Tennessee. You have $2,000 in your pocket and are inspired to give it away. To whom, or what, do you direct your alms? (a) To Catholic Charities of Tennessee-- after all, Tennessee has a high rate of children living in poverty. (b) To the diocese's vocation formation efforts-- for example, by making it possible for Nashville seminarians to attend this summer's Confraternity of Catholic Clergy workshop or Church Teaches Forum. (c) To John Kerry for President, Inc. If you're Father Stephen J. Wolf, your answer is (c).

Look at the pink banner saying "Catholic Community" tacked onto the sign.

And look at this church! I thought I had seen hideous before, but this reaches new depths of industrial, utilitarian ugliness.

It just gets worse. These people are complete and total heretics -- in other words, a typical suburban parish. I had noticed that the name of the photo above was "new building" and so I looked furhter and found that the website has more information:

Worship Space

We, the baptized faithful, are the Church. Our Worship Center was designed by Edwards and Hotchkiss Architects, with liturgical consultation provided by Brother William Woeger, FCS, a talented artist who also created the icon for our Worship Space. The Center is one of the finest expressions of the guidelines contained in Environment and Art in Catholic Worship set forth by the U.S. Catholic Bishops' Committee on the Liturgy in 1978.

The Worship Center is comprised of:
1. The Narthex — A place for the community to congregate before and after liturgies.
2. Worship Space — The place where the faithful gather to pray. The space is arranged to bring the community together so that they can easily see and hear the entire liturgical action, helping them feel involved and enabling them to become active participants. Included in the Worship Space are the altar table, ambo, chair, cross, and icon.
3. Eucharistic Chapel — A quiet place off the narthex where the Eucharist is kept between liturgies. Mass and communion services are offered during the week. A separate entry which leads in from the plaza allows the chapel to be used for private devotion when the main Worship Space is unavailable.
4. Reconciliation Room — Adjacent to the Eucharistic Chapel, the reconciliation room provides appropriate space for the celebration of the sacrament of reconciliation each Saturday at 4:00 PM

In other words, everything has been deliberately designed to make sure that you don't get the false impression that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is occurring here. Let's give them points for honesty.

My guess is that this priest is the conduit for a wealthy Kerry supporter who wants to get around campaign finance restrictions while simultaneously getting a priest on Kerry's donor list. My guess is that the donations to that parish will soon suffer. If I were a parishioner, I might consider diverting some of my donation to the opposition until they were matched.
