It is important to understand that our sinfulness and our separation from God was a rule as absolute as the law of gravity. God had set up the rules, and Satan enticed man to break them. God used Jesus to defeat Satan and reclaim Man for His own. Amen!

Also, I sure would love a Catholic explaining where they get the Anunciation thing (where Mary is swept up into Heaven miraculously). The Annuciation is the event whereby the Angel Gabriel Announced to Mary that she was highly favored of God and had been chosen to bear His divine Son. (Hail Mary full of grace...blessed are thou among woman).

Me too, actually. I wonder if the authentic pronounciation can be known for certain, today? Chaldean Catholics in Iraq today still speak Aramaic.

I won't accept the books of the Apochrypha as scripture, or as authoritative.Nor was I asking you to.
As I stated in post 259, there are more books (chapters) that a man, King James (and his scholars), deleted in the KJV. But at one time they were part of what you do accept.

I haven't seem the movie yet, though it was advertised on TV but I have a question.
Why did they rate it "R"?
That's mean!

Where in scripture does Elizabeth do this? Luke 1:41-42...And it came to pass that, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leapt in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with The Holy Ghost; and she spake out a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

Good morning brothers and sisters. Thank you for sharing and charitably explaining our faith on this thread. I hope you won't mind me offering an observation that I have made here, in this thread. One two occassions I asked straightforward questions, and the responses had to be inferred by actions (read anti-Catholic "attacks"). If you should decide to persist in explaining a holy, Catholic position, I hope that you'll be mindful of today's Gospel, and successful in turning the other cheek. God Bless, and FReegards!

Why did they rate it "R"?
Hi Pippin. I saw Mel Gibson talk about the rating of the film and he said that the movie would be too difficult for any child under 12 (and even then, an older teen may not be "equipped" for it). Anything lower than an R, I think would be a disservice to parents.
To: pgkdan
Elizabeth was speaking to Mary while she was still alive on the earth, before she had died. My question remains unanswered.
To: Miss Marple
I believe this film has been sent by God...
**
I agree with this and with your other remarks. I, too, plan to see this film even though I can't stand to watch graphic violence. I see it as my duty to watch the graphic violence that my guilt as a sinner has thrust upon my Savior.

Oh, kinda thought so.
But I itend to go see it, BTW, it will the the first R rated movie I go to see. because no matter hoe graphic and voilent it might be, the Gosples and the life of our Lord Jesus Christ is never an R rated story for me.
BTW, "GirlShortstop"?
you play baseball?

I've read the correspondence btwn you and others and the the person you describe. I've posted a reply or two myself but will post no more because I see now that this is largely a waste of time. This poster has set his or her self up as the ultimate earthly authority as to what is and isn't authentically Christian and scripturally accurate. They willfully ignore that Catholic Sacred Tradition predates the Gospels by several hundred years.

Thank you all for your explanations. You're welcome. Thank you for your sincere questions.
BTW Yaelle, you hold a special significance for me in that my first post on Free Republic was to you. Who would have thought it would be a couple of thousand posts later that I'd make my second, and now my third.
Best FRegards,

I fully appreciate your points, and acknowledge your facts; we're in agreement. Thanks so much for your reply. FReegards.

Understatement of the eons.

Those who see the relationship between Jesus and Mary who are Catholic will likely see Mary as divine. Thanks for the review...but for the gazillionth time...CATHOLICS DO NOT BELIEVE THAT MARY IS DIVINE!!!!!
WE GOT IT!! Catholics SAY they don't believe Mary is divine, but they ACT like she is divine.

You really ought to consider getting off your high horse, and dropping your ridiculous innuendos.

I have not seen it but will see it tonight. I'm really looking forward to it.
