Gays are Perverts Says Cardinal

"PA"

Up to 95% of lesbians and gays are not really homosexual but “sexual perverts,” a Belgian cardinal claimed today

“I will sign here in my own blood that of all those who say they are lesbian or gay, at most five to 10 are effectively lesbian or gay,” Cardinal Gustaaf Joos, 80, told a magazine

“All the rest are simply sexual perverts. Don’t hesitate to write that down. I demand you write it down. If they come to protest on my doorstep, I don’t care. I will not open the door.”

Joos, who studied with Pope John Paul, was appointed cardinal last year.

He made his comments in an interview on the state of Roman Catholicism in overwhelmingly Catholic Belgium whose legislature legalised gay marriages last year and may soon allow same-sex couples to adopt children.

“Real homosexuals don’t walk the streets in colourful suits,” P-Magazine quoted Joos as saying.

“They are people with a serious problem and have to learn to live with it. And if they err, they will be forgiven. We must help those people, not condemn them.”

The Belgian cardinal said his church “rejects homosexuality, not homosexuals.”

He was equally strident in questioning democracy, saying in the same interview,

“Politics, democracy. Don’t make me laugh. The right to vote, what is that all about? I think it is curious a snot-nosed, 18-year-old has the same vote as a father of seven. One has no responsibilities whatsoever, the other provides tomorrow’s citizens.”

People have been complaining that I am too negative, so here is a good news post for a change. A cardinal, and in Belgium of all places, who has the guts to tell it like it is. And he was appointed by Pope John Paul II, and the article claims that he studied with him as well. So here is my official admission that not everything done by Pope John Paul II has been bad.

"People have been complaining that I am too negative..."

I get that also.

We are not pessimists, we are observant realists.

Nice to hear the cardinal recognize that there are perverts in the world. Now lets see if the Papacy can "walk the walk"...American Catholics are aware that the parishes, orphanages and seminaries are loaded with perverts, when is the Church going to start "cleaning house?"

"Loaded of perverts."? I can't think of a single one in my parish. What the hell are you talking about?

Cardinal Joos, my kind of man!
Mind you, I'm still trying to figure out why he gives the other 5% the benefit of the doubt.

Congrats to you...one parish that you can account for that you "think" has not had a sexual pervert...I suppose you are all knowing of all things that have occurred in your parish since it's inception...give me a break! LOL I don't know where you live but in Southern California where I live we have hundreds of sexual lawsuits against numerous priests and as you well know this has happening throughout the United States and around the world. Wake up and smell the coffee...The Church has been moving perverts around for decades while "paying off" complaintants.
There are none so blind as those who refuse to see...

You made an outrageous statement that the parishes are "Loaded of perverts." I can speak for mine. It is not. I can't think of a single one. It is loaded with good people as any, anywhere.

If you want to focus on the sins of some within the Church, don’t apply it to us in general. It’s not only highly inaccurate, but it’s harmful to the Body of God. Catholics want to see justice far more than you do. What would you expect? It is we who have been victimized.

Throwing rocks from the sidelines is not helping anyone. You can’t break a window on my Church and say, “Nothing against the good folks, this is for the bad ones.” The bad ones don’t care, and the good ones are hurt and are left with the task of repairing it.

The only ones joining you in your LOL are the Liberals and Satan himself.

BINGO!!!!!! Same goes for those without property -- they always choose to raise the taxes of property owners.

I like the last quote about father's of seven.

I think my wife and I should get five votes - one for me, one for my wife, and one for each child. A single person can have one. A married couple with no children can have two.

That would make things interesting!

Mind you, I'm still trying to figure out why he gives the other 5% the benefit of the doubt.

Because 5% probably have an obvious innate inclination to this sin - just like there are kleptomaniacs and nymphmaniacs who have trouble controlling their obsessions.

These people do deserve compassion in their struggle (if they struggle - and Christ came to save sinners who struggle against their sins with His help). The others don't - its a choice for them.

New lawsuit filed in clergy abuse case

by Ted Slowik
SUN NEWS SERVICES

Power brokers conspired to hush allegations that a Joliet Diocese priest dressed a 14-year-old altar boy to look like baby Jesus as part of a ritual that led to disrobing and sexual abuse, attorneys for a plaintiff in a new lawsuit said Dec. 3.

The lawsuit accuses the Rev. Fred Lenczycki, Joliet Bishop Joseph Imesch and the Roman Catholic Church of engaging in a conspiracy to keep the allegations quiet for fear a scandal would tarnish the church's reputation.

The alleged abuses occurred "on a regular and repeated basis" in the rectory of St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale, beginning in 1981, Chicago attorney Marc Pearlman said. Pearlman and Minneapolis attorney Jeff Anderson are representing the plaintiff, a man now in his 30s who lives in rural Illinois and is identified in the lawsuit as "John Doe 87."

"(Lenczycki) used to put him in robes and take pictures. Taking the clothes off was all part of the ritual," Pearlman said.

Lenczycki, 58, of Glen Ellyn also served at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville from 1973 to 1975. He is facing a Jan. 12 trial on charges of criminal sexual abuse stemming from alleged incidents that involved young boys at the Hinsdale church in 1984.

Imesch removed Lenczycki from the Hinsdale parish and sent him for counseling in 1985, when allegations first surfaced. Prosecutors investigated the claims but were unable to pursue charges at the time because no parent of an alleged victim was willing to cooperate with authorities.

During the press conference Dec. 3 in Chicago, the attorneys distributed a letter they say indicates the original investigation was hushed. The letter is dated May 21, 1985, and is written by Robert Kilander, who was first assistant to then-DuPage County State's Attorney Jim Ryan. Ryan later served as Illinois attorney general and Kilander now is DuPage County's chief judge.

The letter is written to Aldo Botti, a powerful Oak Brook attorney and St. Isaac Jogues parishioner who acted on behalf of the Joliet Diocese during the 1985 investigation. Botti is a former chairman of the DuPage County Board.

"I determined to take no immediate action given the church's previous action and the feeling of the parents involved in the situation," Kilander wrote to Botti. The prosecutor then inquires about the priest's whereabouts and treatment.

"I believe that with specific knowledge that Father Fred has undergone treatment and that care is being used in his assignment, we can quietly close this investigation," Kilander wrote.

Kilander said Dec. 3 he could not comment because of the criminal case pending against Lenczycki.

Imesch and other bishops believed at the time that priests who engaged in sexual misconduct could undergo counseling and be reassigned to parish ministries, Joliet Diocese spokesman John Cullen said Dec. 3.

"The letter represents the prevailing wisdom of the time," Cullen said. "If he underwent therapy and appeared to be rehabilitated, at the time, the thought was that was the best we could do."

Lenczycki was on leave of absence from 1985 to 1987, but Imesch assigned him to parishes in California from 1988 to 1995. From 1995 to 2002, Lenczycki served as a hospital chaplain in the St. Louis area. The criminal case against Lenczycki can be pursued because the statute of limitations was suspended while he was living out of state. He also served at the St. Charles Borromeo seminary near Lockport from 1978 to 1980.

The lawsuit accuses the Joliet Diocese of negligently concealing criminal conduct by priests, aiding and abetting criminal sexual abuse, obstructing justice and evading liability.

Advocates for victims of sexual abuse by clergy say priests who molested children used their power as agents of God to coerce victims into remaining silent. Many victims are well into adulthood before they understand the lasting harm caused to them, victims' advocates say.

In Illinois, the Catholic Church is challenging a change in state law that makes it easier for alleged victims of sexual abuse to file lawsuits years after the fact. And as the sexual abuse scandal was breaking early last year, a Will County judge granted the Joliet Diocese's request to expand a court order sealing additional documents pertaining to sexual abuse allegations.

"In many ways, John Doe is doing the work that Bishop Imesch should be doing as shepherd of that diocese," said Barbara Blaine, president of Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, referring to U.S. bishops' commitment to transparency as part of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Last year, a Will County judge unsealed documentation about former priest Lawrence Gibbs' alleged sexual abuses but ruled thousands of additional pages of documents are to remain protected. Pearlman said attorneys will challenge that order and hope to uncover documents that could encourage additional victims to come forward.

"It's just sad that Bishop Imesch allowed Lenczycki to remain in ministry until 2002," Blaine said. By directing the diocese's attorney to seek an expansion of the order of protection, "Bishop Imesch is showing that he values the reputation of the priest and the church more than people who were abused. It certainly begs the question, what is hidden in there that he doesn't want people to see?"

Cullen disputed the depiction that the diocese advocates secrecy in regard to the sexual-abuse documents.

"Only a judge can get them out — that's our position," he said.

You are wasting my time. I stand by my statement. The Catholic Church has hundreds of perverts who it has moved around for decades.

But that wasn't your statement! You said,

American Catholics are aware that the parishes, orphanages and seminaries are loaded with perverts...

I agree there are hundreds. And that's a big difference from "loaded" when you're talking about 70 million Catholics in America.

But, if that's your way of apologizing, apology accepted.

As to what the Church is doing now to ensure it doesn't happen again, I suggest you look into it. It my save your church a lot of grief with its perverts some day.

BTW, What is your church anyway? I'm proud to say I'm Catholic, how about you?
