A joyous Christmas to you to. Lots of rain here, but it was a very nice Christmas. My wife fed lots of people and we sang Christmas songs and had good times. It is always nice to have lots of family and friends around at Christmas.

Thanks for your comments.

All spirits are sons and daughters of God. (you can't exist outside the network) You, me and everyone are in that group. Unfortunately, everybody has free agency. The fact that Lucifer "a son of the morning" rebelled is a reflection on him not us or Christ or God. You get to chose your life... Lucifer chose his. You are free to make bad choices. God mourns when you do stumble that but he does not prevent you. If you have a wayward son, you may try to get control, but you might not save him from himself.

Take up your cross is figurative. But, you may interpret it differently. I don't mind you attending a church with a cross on it. Lots of churches don't have them. Where I live there are lots of store front churches that can't change the exteriors. I do assume they are Christian though. We will refer to ourselves anyway we wish and you may do the same.

There are those that believe that Catholic is not christian.

Which is somewhat humorous, considering that there are 1.1 billion Catholic Christians, vs. maybe half as many of all adherents to the Protestant denominations, which all have split off (originally) from the Catholic Church.

I mean, who gets to define what constitutes a Christian?

It's kinda like the French opining on what makes a good sauerkraut.

Unity is what we all should desire, but we know that from the beginning the Enemy has been working to prevent this. He persuaded us to turn our backs on Heaven, and while Our Lord has opened that gate, we still mill around like cattle, uncertain about going through. Nondenominalism is obviously not going to produce unity. A Wesleyian/liberal indifference to theological disputes has left us open to the charge that we are simply deluded persons who have faith in faith. I am put to mind of the public schools where content is disregarded in favor of self-esteem.

Friends don't let "friends" FReep under their FReepname (either that or stay off the Jeckyll-and-Hyde potion) ;)

Apology accepted and belated Merry Christmas and early Happy New you to you as well :)

"The book Mormon has some very erroneous claims and things that have been shown to be prover false...FALSE!"

I seriously doubt there is any accusation against the BoM you could make that I have not already investigated and found lacking. Writing it off as something that is 'proven false' might fit your bias quite comfortably, but I find it hard to belive anyone who takes that position has really honestly tested the validity of the accusations against it. I have seen a lot of dishonesty and trickery used to make false accusation against every aspect of my faith, so don't be so quick to buy into what somebody else says just because it is what you want to be true, even if it happens to be published in a book.

I am fully open to investigating whatever accusation against the BoM you wish to make, but I ask that you also be fully open to the possibility that those accusations are false and that your understanding of our faith is flawed. Likewise for the prophetic calling of Joseph Smith. If that is agreeable to you, then freepmail me your specific points.

If the idea of discussing this via freepmail is unacceptable to you, then I am not interested. I've seen too many others like you who will claim to be willing to honestly consider my replies when in reality they don't because all they want is a public soapbox to rail against my faith as some cheap way to boost their ego. I don't have time to waste talking to people who don't intend to listen. Agreeing to discuss via freepmail is a token of good faith I demand to show that your concern is with truth, not ego.

"One last thing, Momonism teaches three seperate personages not equal with one another unless that has changed now too because your elders realize they couldn't get around their bogus heretical claims. You and Hawaii must be studying different BOM because Hawaii believes in the personages not equal...so did J.Smith!"

I said they are equal in power, glory and perfection. I don't see anything from maui_hawaii or Joseph Smith contrary to that. I also said that they fulfill different divine roles. Part of Heavenly Father's role is that he presides over the three of them, and the Bible is quite clear about Christ submitting to the will of the Father. Again I don't see any contradictions with any past teachings. If you want to discuss this further in your freepmail, then could you please indicate specificly what you take 'not equal' as meaning.

Try reading "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut. The Laws of Bokonon might appeal to you.

Try picking up a book of Freshman Poetry 101, you might learn something from it.

Ah, I misunderstood (seems like a good reason, therefore, to check out the book).

My bad.

Writing it off as something that is 'proven false' might fit your bias quite comfortably, but I find it hard to belive anyone who takes that position has really honestly tested the validity of the accusations against it.

Let's concentrate on this:

"President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. He then gave a revelation of some of the circumstances attending us while journeying to Zion...our trial, sufferings; and said God had not designed all this for nothing, but He had it in remembrance yet; and it was the will of God that those who went to Zion, with a determination to lay down their lives, if necessary, should be ordained to the ministry, and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, or the coming of the Lord, which was nigh—even fifty-six years would wind up the scene."

History of the Church, Vol. 2, p. 182.

Before I go any further we need to agree this is correct.

From now on I will log off from FR to prevent having guests do some "ghost writing"...thanks for your forgiveness.

I freepmailed you my reply. I am serious about what I said in my last post. If you are interested in truth, reply by freepmail. If you just want to put on a public show, I have better things to do.
