In related news... Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) has a similar bill to Cornyn's Amnesty parked in Judiciary, S.1461.1 Arizona Congressmen Jeff Flake and Jim Kolbe, both Republicans, have introduced a companion bill to McCain's in the House, HR.2899.2 Also coming out of the Senate Judiciary Committee is Senator Orrin Hatch's (R-Utah) Dream Act, S. 1545, which would compel state governments to grant in-state tuition to Illegals who came into the country as children.3 Hatch is also sponsoring a Constitutional Amendment that would allow naturalized citizens, including Amnestied Illegals, to hold the office of President of the United States.4 Meanwhile, the Treasury department under President Bush continues to allow banks to accept the Mexcian matricula consular I.D. cards which are used increasingly and exclusively by Illegal Aliens to open bank accounts by which they wire-transfer their Illegal earnings back to Mexico.5 The Battle for Ilegal Alien Amnesty will be fought within the Republican tent in 2004.

Meanwhile, the Treasury department under President Bush continues to allow banks to accept the Mexcian matricula consular I.D. cards which are used increasingly and exclusively by Illegal Aliens to open bank accounts by which they wire-transfer their Illegal earnings back to Mexico. This is a favor to the Dimwits on Wall Street. For example, Clinton Treas. Secretary Rubin et al at Citigroup want to make it easier for Mexicans in the U.S. to transfer funds from Citibank accounts to Citigroup's Mexican bank subsidiary.
The only side benefit to this is the process of elimination. If we know the money is being wired for Mexican families, good chance to eliminate these transfers from those being investigated for financing terrorists.

Maybe you can find them but I don't find any penalties for criminality by potential "guest workers".
- Whether illegal aliens will be barred from this program if they have committed crimes in the United States.
- Whether they will be punished, barred from amnesty if they tell lies about their eligibility for this program. Many lied to get in on Reagan's amnesty of 1986
- Whether they will be punished, deported for violating provisions in this program
- Whether they will be deemed ineligible, deported if they suffer unexpected unemployment
- There are no provisions for punishing illegal aliens who don't get into this program
- There are no provisions for ramping up deportation of illegal aliens who don't bother to sign up for this guest worker program/amnesty. IOW illegal aliens can still stay here though they ignore this program
Plus:
- Will a guest worker be allowed to bring in his wife and 10 children from Guatemala while he's working towards amnesty and do they get amnesty and citizenship too? Will they be eligible for various welfare programs?
- This program will do nothing to deport or grant amnesty?? to illegal aliens from China, Bangladesh, India and other places. They will still scam their way in here.

Can Texas freepers PLEASE explain why the heck this dull establishment candidate and his liberal stance on immigration won the primary?
That was the quietest "open seat" primary I have EVER seen. Cornyn didn't even bother to campaign, was about as exciting as oatmeal, and STILL got like 80% of the primary vote. He was running for the Senate the reason Jim Ryan ran for Governor here in Illinois-- he was the Attoneny General so the party leaders asked him to because of his name reconition. He was the "default" nominee. Did TX freepers even BOTHER to vote in the primary? If you guys had, you should have considered a real conservative like Doug Deffenbaugh.

The Battle for Ilegal Alien Amnesty will be fought within the Republican tent in 2004. Agreed. But what this is really all about is the propping up our neighbor to the South and their bankrupt economy. Presidente Fox has freely admitted that Mexico's primary and major source on income is the U.S. dollars flowing back across the border from its Mexican citizens working and living in the U.S. of A.
The current Administration can't / won't allow the Mexican economy to collapse so you have all of these Constitutionally defying bills pouring out of Republican controlled Washington and it will only get worse from the American citizens viewpoint. This is one of the results of the "Compassionate Conservatism" that we voted for.

ALl of this is sick, sick, sick!
Particularly this...

These people have gone nuts. Time to route the viper out!

Time for some Republican recalls? Here is the way things are set up in Texas to the best of my knowledge.
When a candidate wishes to be funded by the Texas Rebublican Party, he must read the Texas platform, agree to it, an attach his signature to each page, swearing to uphold that platform, before any funds or support is forthcoming.
Both Bush and Cornyn have violated their contract with the Texas Republican Party. It's time to get jiggy about that. I plan to call Cornyn's office tomorrow and remind him of what he signed onto and ask if he doesn't consider his actions subject to recall and or lawsuit for the return of the funds he received from the Texas Republican Party.

Senator Cornyn obviously is trying to repay the businesses that funded his campaign for Senator last year....by helping provide them cheap labor.
I hope illegal aliens invade his Texas neighborhood....throwing their dirty diapers in his driveway.
