[history]
Many in the "mainstream" news media have decided that their principal job is to elect Democrats. If some facts must be ignored, and others distorted in order to bring this about, so be it.
The Los Angeles Times discarded what shreds remained of its reputation for journalistic integrity in its efforts to keep Gov. Gray Davis from being recalled. The electioneering efforts of the LA Times consisted principally, but by no means exclusively, of its front-page story, the Thursday before the election, in which six women -- four of them anonymously -- accused Republican frontrunner Arnold Schwarzenegger of having groped them.

California's largest newspaper had downplayed much more serious -- and better factually grounded -- allegations of sexual misconduct by President Clinton, and had ignored altogether credible charges of (nonsexual) abuse of female staff members by Davis.
The nonsexual aspect of the charges against Davis was made all the more credible by virtue of the fact that his victims were female.

Democrats are incapable of performing Violent Acts on Womyn. The ONLY perpetrators of such acts are Straight White Republican Men (of course the most volient we perform is being born).

Wow, what a breathtakingly candid article. I loved the Propaganda Ministry line.
Trouble is, while the LATimes is only the most recent noteworthy example of media bias, it is, by far (as we all know) not the only one. Media bias is rampant throughout the industry and they notoriously hide behind the 1st Amendment.
It seems that the media have finally begun eating their own.

Absolutely shocking, indeed. None-the-less it's a nice summary to throw in the face of the libs, especially coming from a lefty rag.
The upcoming 13 months will be very, very weary. My patience is worn and I'll need a reminder every now and then of what slimes we're up against.

"A falsehood is only a lie if the teller of the falsehood knows it to be false at the time he or she tells it. Lumpkin, Bumiller, et. al may merely be incompetent, incapable of so simple a task as looking up the State of the Union address to see what it was that Bush actually said."
He gives them too much credit. They're not incompetent. That would mean they still had some sense of morality.
I think we know what they are and what they lack.

Many in the "mainstream" news media have decided that their principal job is to elect Democrats. If some facts must be ignored, and others distorted in order to bring this about, so be it. That pretty much sums up the Houston Chronicle.
BTW, the kid accidently threw me this morning, editorials from Ralph Nader, Helen Thomas "Change U.S. image with Arab World - or Else" and some sob story about the poor Palestinian school-girls. "That deepening hole in Iraq" by Jim Hoagland ...reminded me why I don't miss it.

Absolutely true story. During the Daniel Ortega, Nicaragua, Sandinistas, El Salvador, Salvadorian rebels, Jose Duarte, Contras struggles of the early 1980s I did not know who were the good guys and who were the bad guys. I wanted to know in the easiest way possible. Solution: watch one evening network TV newscast.
Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua and his Sandinistas were portrayed as the good guys and all others were the bad guys.
So now I knew: Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua and his Sandinistas were the Communists and all others were the good guys.
Folks, this is the way it was all throughout the "Fairness Doctrine" era. There was no Internet, of course, and very, very little talk radio beyond Larry King. You had to dig for truth. Mostly limited circulation publications. There would have been no Rush with the 'Fairness Doctrine."
Never again! Death to those who would deny us our free speech and free press!

"Bush has a tougher row to hoe" - only part I disagree with.
Because the rats will nominate how-odd? dean, I predict that by early May the fact that it is over for the rats at the White House and Congress levels will be crystal clear to all but the New York & LA slimes. I predict that at that time, the rats will re-focus on holding the GOP pick ups in the Seanate to "just" SC, NC, Fla. Ga. and SD. They will pour zillions into Ill. and Pa. which will be up for grabs because Toomey will beat sphincter and I don't see Pa have to Santorums. Now the rats will have to work to defend boxershorts and the commie in tennis shoes as well.
"Bush will have a tougher row to hoe" I think not.
