It occurs to me that discredited, disgraced, evicted politicians are pretty much one-trick ponies ... that trick being the selling granting of pardon's to imprisoned felons. I'm willing to out on a limb here and predict that Governor Gray Davis is a politican of such character.
I've put together an online poll where you can vote for how many pardon's you think Gov. Davis will sell grant. See the following links to vote and/or to view results:

Governor Ray Blanton of Tennessee actually DID start selling pardons in the "lame duck" time of his office. The incoming governor, Lamar Alexander, took the unheard of step of being sworn in about three weeks early to put a stop to it. Blanton later served time for his crimes, but not nearly enough and certainly not "hard time".

I remember the summery of '81 in Memphis quite well - it seemed that every tee-shirt that didn't say "I shot JR!" said "Pardon Me Ray".
Footnote: "Pardon Me" Ray Blanton died in prison after having been found guilty of selling liquor license approvals.

Well, the results indicate that, by a wide margin, Freepers anticipate that Gray Davis will grant/sell more than 50 pardon's before departing the governor's mansion.
Anybody wanna bet it happens in his last hours?
