I'm sure he'll beat this and come back, better than ever. Unfortunately, there are those here who are upset with him, since he doesn't walk on water. Yep. This remindes me of all the Bennet threads. Why do people assume that people that are in the public eye are perfect? Either they're naive or stupid.

Ditto, Fawnn. I took Oxycontin ONCE after a terrible root canal experience. Put me soundly to sleep. Anyone who could do talk radio while taking Oxycontin is either Superman, or has an extremely high tolerance level.

"the DUmmies and other assorted libs are going to have a field day."
This will fade away after a week. It will resurface when he comes back to the airwaves. It will die after 3-4 days from that.
It is funny that Downey, Jr. gets slack 4 or 5 times for using ILLEGAL drugs. I think the general public will forgive legal drug dependence.
Also, I deal with druggies every day and rarely (never??) have I seen a legal drug dependent person do time. I have only been involved with dealers. I have yet to see their customers go down.
In Arizona, we have Prop. 200 which makes jail impossible for 1st and 2nd time ILLEGAL drug possession. I have NEVER seen anyone charged for possession of LEGAL drugs (unless they had massive quantities for sale).

Basically Kerry said in last nights debate something like, "Only two ways to get cheap prescription drugs: one would be to hire Rush Limbaugh's housekeeper. The other way would be to elect me, so I enact some giveaway prescription drug welfare program."

I don't know why the pro-drug crowd here comes down on me, for saying I'm disappointed and no longer a fan after this. I simply can not support someone so self-destructive and hypocritical. I wish Rush the best, but this is a rotten outcome.

Rush said he twice went into detox. So while it may be true that some avoid treatment out of fear of the legal consequences, it does not appear that is the case with Rush.
To: 1Old Pro
The type of surgery he's had does use aminoglycazides liberally, to prevent infection ruining the work. Those (like gentimicin) are extremely toxic to the choclear structures. It ain't necessarily the painkillers ... plus, his doctors have said his family history (genetics) is connected to cochlear failure. [I still say those who chose to exploit this tragedy are in for the most backlash as the truth regarding the criminals dribbles to the surface to be ignored by 'Big Media'(like the maid and hubby, like the criminal pharmacist and his wife, like the lawgods feeding stuff to the DNC behind the scenes in conjunction with the Enquirer article).]

I've been a member of AlAnon for 20 years and have known many people who were able to overcome addictions to alcohol, heroin, opiates and any combination thereof.

I really don't have any anger toward any of these folks -- not Rush, not the inner city junkie. So I don't want to see Rush go to jail. Earlier I posted on FR that I thought the Drug allegations were simply a fabrication of the media and that Rush could never become a drug addict. Looks, like I was wrong. A sad day for all true Americans.
Hopefully Rush will see his way through this and Americans can re-evaluate the Drug War. Is Rush any different than a crack head on the Lower East Side or a junkie in Hell's Kitchen?
I would hope that he is but each is responsible for their predicament if we are going to have a Drug War each should be held legally accountable.

Not true. I am a recovering addict (sober for over 15 years) and was just prescibed Vicadine (spelled?) after a wrist surgery. 30 pills!

If he had chronic back pain, what couldn't he get his medication legally? I know several people with chronic back pain, myself included, and we go to doctors, not the parking lot of Denny's to receive treatment.

Well, they are hate filled leftists. They didn't actually get their heart's desire, they would have liked it best if he was found dead on the floor of his bathroom or something.
Rush is an overcomer, with the positive view and forward vision that made this country great. He will come back stronger than ever, and they will HATE that, because they believe in the mentality of the helpless victim.
