nonsense, are you not familiar with FL's first time offender drug court? Even if prosecuted the case is dismissed upon completion of treatment.
Dismissed.
not a major problem at all.

"What does bother me deeply is his HYPOCRISY."
Drugs are mind alterring. Maybe he'll feel, behave differently towards addicts/alcoholics, after he gets some recovery and empathy.

The chances of success for an addict from physical pain like rush's back and neck situation are far more promissing than someone who is using drugs for recreation. In terms of treatment, you're right, but scoring narcotics off the street... at what point do you STOP being addicted for physical pain, and START being addicted due to its psychological impact? Regardless, they're both still addicts.
If his pain were really that great, why couldn't he find a doctor to manage his pain? Using your housekeeper to manage your pain seems to be the mark of an addict, the kind that WOD lovers want to lock up.

Sounds like you understand as much about addiction and recovery about as well as some of the others here...that is, not at all. A drug addict is a drug addict is a drug addict. Cocaine, alcohol, crack, oxy's...they are ALL the same. Try asking someone who has been through treatment and is in recovery. Get back to me when you have evidence of Rush breaking into a house and pointing a gun at a person to get money to service his habit and then we can talk.

You just find a doctor who doesn't know you were ever in treatment. Doesn't matter. The DEA would put the pieces together, advise his previous doctors and keep Rush on a watch list so they could "intervene."

"If he has so much "courage" why didn't he tell the public on the two previous occasions he went into detox?"
Anonymity, denial would be two possible answers. You got any others?
To: zoyd
I haven't heard word one from him about the inaccuracies in the story Actually Rush said...
So I will only say that the stories you have read and heard contain inaccuracies and distortions, which I will clear up when I am free to speak about them.

Rush kept this quiet totally because of his radio program. How could he call Ted Kennedy a lush if it was known that he is an addict? I think he's a brillant man, but there's nothing sincere about him. His silence was not out of embaressment or compassion for his family: it was strictly business. Rush is, above all, a BUSINESSMAN.
To: Tribune7
You'd have to be pretty much blinded by dogma not to believe that there wasn't some kind of problem that needed addressing. There are a lot of roads to hell built on "good intentions." Alcohol prohibition was one of them. The drug war is another.

*grin* I take it we are both amused at the same thing... how some people are having a little difficulty having their preconceptions about their heroes being challenged... I see that you are not a fan of life proven adages, such as,
"One shouldn't count their chickens before they hatch".
But what the hey an adjective for a Libertarian in a thesaurus is the hubristic.

You are exactly right! More now than ever, Rush needs our support and prayers to get him through this. The conservatives in our country owe Rush for being the lone voice in the wilderness for so long. Were it not for Rush, the tremendous growth in awareness would not have happened. Conservatives would still be labeled "Nazis", "Homophobes", and worse (we still are labelled those things - but now people laugh at how absurd they are), were it not for Rush's continuous teaching.

"Uh Qwinnie, if you want me to answer your posts, you should actually try to "ping" me, like you did not in your reply #992."
Sorry, I'm new to this board, have no idea what "pinging" is yet.
"BTW, it is interesting that during the Clinton administartion that the majority of the pro-marijuana initiatives were passed(you know a president of the United States saying that he didn't "inhale" and all that schtick), but in the first off year election in the GW Bush administration(2002) the three major pro-drug state intitiatives(AZ, OH, and NV), financed BTW, by Hillary friend George Soros, all went down to resounding defeats."
And this relates to the links I gave that actively demonstrate that Clinton enacted the most draconian anti-marijuana laws in history HOW?
You give no link. You establish no facts. I show how even the ACLU has a problem with Bill "I didn't inhale" Clinton's marijuana laws and you're completely ignoring the evidence I've presented.
BTW, one person being "friends" with someone else means exactly zero to me. I am friends with lots of people who disagree with me on some issues, including this one. If being friends with someone proves something, then the only thing I can think of is that you have clearly established that the Clintons are hypocrites in their choice of friends.
"Oh yeah, I will wait for your kicking Rush while he is down reply and reveling in it like your Libertarian brethren are."
What are you talking about? I've been defending Rush. And I'm not a Libertarian. I'm pro-life ferchrissakes. Social and fiscal conservative. Decriminalization of pot and prison time for users is, to me, an issue of competing priorities. Plus the fact that Clinton and California's legislature went so over the top in punishing it that someone in California is mandated to serve twice as much prison time for pot possession as the average time served for murder.

"Wow. I find it truly amazing that he has been able to function as he has while addicted to such a terrible drug."
WOW is a good word. He has always claimed that half of his brain is tied behind his back. That might just well be true. I personally look forward to his next broadcast when all of his brain is loose. LOOK OUT. Just my thoughts.
best regards

Please show me the quote where I praised Rush for his prescription drug abuse.
Again like I said way earlier in this thread, I think I will be waiting a long time.

"The Rushies are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to salvage their image of their hero."
I suggest they are simply folks trying to have human empathy, for another imperfect human.
