Well, well, well.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. Kobe Bryant is a filthy rapist. He deserves to spend a very long time in prison. Further, he deserves to be shorn of every last dime of money he's got, and to be left penniless and destitute.
Let him be known henceforth as "R" Bryant.

thats just my opinion - and Kobe's gonna have a real hard time 'splainin away vaginal lacerations and the choke hold - ....and from that tiny picture weve seen, she's credible
FWIW, former Denver County prosecuter Craig Silverman was on local radio this am and said that a coviction was very questionable. He characterized the prosecutions evidence as "weak" and also said that the LACK of any bruises on the victims neck did not support her account of being choked or held by the neck for 5 minutes. Craig felt that did not bolster the victims credibility. Not to mention that she willing went up to his room and admits kissing him, a man she just met.

I dunno...have you ever been raped? Have you ever been raped with somebody's hands wrapped around your throat? Have you ever been raped by a 6 foot something 200+ pound man from behind with his hands wrapped around your throat? It's hard to speculate what you would or would not do.
To: PLOM...NOT!
My question was a posit to elicit comments. Thanks for your input.

The girl is planning cuddles by the fire and picking out china patterns. And stressing over whether they both like what the china pattern symbolizes, and what it says about their relationship.

I know several women who have been raped because of something stupid they did (their own words) and they didn't report it....Opened a door, got in a car, got alone, went somewhere...whatever.
And they while they said no, and struggled, the problem was that they initialy liked the guy or at least didn't see him as any kind of threat. They had a certain level of trust. The best way I can put it, is that the shock of having that trust violated was paralysing while they were trying to process what was happening to them.
Their stories (that I knew years before this whole Kobe thing) are SO much like this girl's story, that I believe her. Case of Dumb Girl Syndrome.

It's a sad day when you have to sign a legal contract before having sex just to prove it is consensual. Wouldn't make no nevermind here in the People's Republic of Illinois. Even after giving consent, a woman here can change her mind and say no at any time during the act, and if the man does not immediately desist, it's rape!

"Case of Dumb Girl Syndrome."
Exactly. I believe MOST rapes dont get reported because the victim feels she was resposible in some way and fear of having to endure a low-life Attorney smear tactics such as Kobe's.
I dont know if this woman was raped or not, but blood during sex is not usual. That makes me wonder.
To: Penny
To you and others: I am curious about the blood on his shirt and the swiftness with which law enforcement retrieved and tested it. Does anyone on FR have additional information about this? Wouldn't the blood evidence be enough to offset the "he said, she said" kind of case the defense is making it to be?
I hadn't heard about the blood on the shirt until yesterday, but I did know the police arrived at his hotel room about 24 hours after the alleged attack (the girl reported it about 12 hours after, and was photographed and examined that afternoon, then the police go to visit Bryant) and were there quite a while looking for and collecting evidence.
To my mind it definitely goes against him. First, the presence of blood indicates force---and here the defense attorney wanted to make it sound like she's with guys all the time--bleeding the whole while? I don't think so----and the fact that he kept a shirt on during the act has some implications.
Also, there are reports---NOT on the court record, so we shall see----that he at first denied being with the girl, so finding her blood on his shirt goes against his later admission they were together consensually. I wonder if, when he finally admitted to having sex with her, if he indicated it was on the bed, and I wonder if they subsequently found evidence on that chair. Time will tell.

stick a fork in him - he's done Unless they can do something to refute the damning facts and detailed allegations above, like prove she got the bruises and lacerations somewhere else, I think you're right.

Apparently, the injuries are so minor that the cop never saw the very tiny bruise on her face and the tears on her vagina can't be seen without microscopic aid.If she had rough sex with any of the previous three guys, this could easily be explained. What three guys?
There is no evidence there are any other guys but Bryant.
As to the microscopic aid to see the tears. Obviously that is not so. Photos were introduced in court of that area yesterday and I am confident they would not introduce such pictures unless they were extremely compelling. I do believe the reporters, who are clearly misreporting the testimony (witness the conflicting reports of what the testimony was: First the tattoo is on her back, then her ankle) reported the wrong word regarding this matter. In fact, from the article:
The detective said there was blood in the woman's panties and the nurse who examined her at the hospital found many 2 mm lacerations - "too many to count."
That is not microscopic.
To: Motherbear
To begin with, they're pretty minor. So what's your theory of how her blood got on his shirt from these "minor" (not) injuries?
To: cyncooper
I am not a supporter of Kobe in any way, but could blood have come from her being on her menstrual cycle? Or just recently?
To: Motherbear
She's building a case.
No she's not. She's asking a witness to assume a hypothetical statement of facts based upon no evidence in the record.
The question was not only salacious, but it was technically improper. If she pulls the stunt again, I would expect the judge to levy a significant sanction.

it appears his bodyguards were in an approximate room.
Actually I understood the bodyguards were on a different floor than he and that within those first 24 hours I thought it had been reported that he had switched rooms with one of the body guards.
The more I hear of the type of defence lawyer he has procured and the flip flops in his denials and the ring and tatoos, I'm starting to think this whole "clean as a whistle" player was far from it.
Anyone that has dated or known a "jock" in high school knows their attitude of their superiority and it takes good character or an outside character to reign that attitude in. I have a feeling with Kobe's ability on the court he probably has never really faced the consequences of his actions off the court. Just IMO of course of past experiences.

Blood during sex is "not usual"; I beg to differ. I thought it was not unusual.
