Spitzer Study Just Published:
Evidence Found for Effectiveness of Reorientation Therapy
By Roy Waller and Linda A. Nicolosi
The results of a study conducted by Dr. Robert L. Spitzer have just been published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, Vol. 32, No. 5, October 2003, pp. 403-417.
Spitzer's findings challenge the widely-held assumption that a homosexual orientation is "who one is" -- an intrinsic part of a person's identity that can never be changed.
The study has attracted particularly attention because its author, a prominent psychiatrist, is viewed as a historic champion of gay activism. Spitzer played a pivotal role in 1973 in removing homosexuality from the psychiatric manual of mental disorders.
Testing the hypothesis that a predominantly homosexual orientation will, in some individuals, respond to therapy were some 200 respondents of both genders (143 males, 57 females) who reported changes from homosexual to heterosexual orientation lasting 5 years or more. The study's structured telephone interviews assessed a number of aspects same-sex attraction, with the year prior to the interview used as the comparative base.

Why all this about homosexuality? Divorce is just as strongly condemned. You are exactly right of course. It seems that human beings by nature are hypocritical and quick to judgement (in the eternal sense of judgement). A close look at the scriptures should make ALL of us hang are heads in shame. Lying, drunkeness, "haughty eyes", envy, BOASTING(!) It seems that God HATES them all (oh ya, he doesn't like homosexual acts either, and I don't do that one, so I must be a MORAL PERSON - right).
God looks at the heart. And the apostle Paul said it very well; "The things I want (know) I should do, I don't do, and the things I don't want to do (or know I shouldn't do), those are the things I end up doing! Ahhh!!! Who will deliver me from this body of death?!!
JC dude!

You are exactly right of course. But no one is actively promoting divorce or infidelity. Homosexuality is being promoted. Kids are being taught homosexuality is normal and must be accepted. That is the difference.

I would guess that it's part hardwired and part not. Once we understand the biology, we may be able to alter the brains of homosexuals by drugs, hormones, surgery, or implants. What brave new world will we have then. My gay friend once said to me, "Do you think anyone would choose to be gay?" That's both true and not true, and can only be tested when and if a choice to change the biology becomes available.

In other words, people who felt some attraction to the opposite sex all along felt more attraction after therapy. I'd call these people bisexual. After spending years in a homosexual lifestyle and being positively reinforced through sex, it is difficult to wipe that completely out of a persons mind. Sexual attractions and preferences and lifestyles are learned behaviors, that can be altered by one of the most powerful positive reinforcement mechinisms we have, which is an orgasism. I think it is impossible to put everyone neatly into a box of either staight or gay. I see this as kind of like a ex-smoker, just because they give it up doesn't mean they don't think about it once in a while. But just because they think about it, that doesn't make them a smoker.

If you put this much effort and concern into this topic you obviously don't have anything serious going on in your life. If you prioritize the evils in the world deserving of attention and action I seriously doubt that this falls into the top 20. Get a life.

If you haven't noticed what gay activists are doing and what a high priority the left has in promoting the gay agenda, you haven't been paying attention.

I will tell you, every gay person I know, including my own sister, belong to the biggest group of self centered, "look at me" people on the planet.
They choose to be gay as long as it gets them attention.

And if you don't want to read it, don't!!

Actually you are the one who is either unaware of or indifferent to the promotion of homosexuality in the West. By ignoring the ramifications of this ideology you endanger the continued health and reproduction of society.
Homosexuality may not be a topic that consumes most of your day but it certainly is a problem that needs discussion and continued research not name calling those who bring information to our attention.

My gay friend once said to me, "Do you think anyone would choose to be gay?" Well lets see, the gay lifestyle offers hot promiscuous sex with little effort and few strings, so yes there are people who choose this lifestyle.
To: Always Right
You are ALSO exactly right of course.
I think it is important though to differentiate between the "Gay Movement" which should be resisted and repudiated, and the individual, which to God has the same infinite worth as a hetero.
I think Jesus' lesson relating to woman caught in adultery is apropos. Her accusers, when presented with their own "past", lost their lust for punishment. Christ then asked her "where are those who would condemn you?". "There are none" is her reply. Christ then finishes with: "Then neither do I condemn you - go and SIN NO MORE".
I do a poor job of imitating Christ. However, I wonder where we would be as a society, if the church spent less time railing against homosexuality (and the rest of the whole list of "don't"), and more time REACHING OUT to the lost - accepting them EXACTLY where they are - not judging them (its not our job). Simply introduce the lost to the message of the gospel - the love of God - and let Him perform the work of transforming there heart.
We in the church should be walking ALONGSIDE the lost, not cajoling them with THEIR IMPENDING DAMNATION IF THEY DON'T REPENT. Yes repentance is required - but it is a repentaence of the HEART which must come first. ACTIONS with be dealt with accordingly.
Thanks for allowing me my soapbox. Yes, the gay agenda should not be taught in schools. But its like telling people that its WRONG to push a hot poker into their eyes. The hot poker is not the issue, the issue is a lack of sound judgement. Acceptance of the gay agenda (along with a host of other ills) shows the same lack of sound judgement.
Until the hearts of the people in this nation are turned back to God, they are simply going to look at we opponents of gay rights as religious bigots.
I often feel hopeless and helpless when I ponder a solution. What is the answer? It can only be Prayer, and living a life of humilty and grace.
Come lord Jesus.

There are two types of Law in Leviticus--ceremonial law and moral law. Ceremonial law relates to animal sacrifices, cleanliness, etc. while moral law relates to behavior. When Christ died on the Cross, the old law passed away, and was replaced by a new covenant. In short, the new covenant is grace through faith in Christ and repentance of sin. Under the new covenant the ceremonial law is nullified, BUT the moral law IS NOT. In fact, the new testament makes clear that our behavior is evidence of our salvation.

Touche'!!!
And, I might add, must have (a) been in a coma for a couple of decades, or (b) like what the homo-activists are promoting.
