Katie in Attack Mode - Questions Arnold's Leadership, Envisions "Havoc" and Grope Lawsuits
The Today Show
Posted on 10/08/2003 4:31:31 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest
The morning after a historic election, it's traditional for the media to lead their coverage with an analysis of what led to the winning candidate's victory, and typically offer some softbal, warm and fuzzy interviews with the winning team.
But as far as The Today Show's Katie Couric is concerned, there's no time for a honeymoon, as she wasted no time in attack Arnold and painting a grim picture for his political future.
Couric's guest was CA Congressman and Arnold transition chairman David Dreier.
Again, the typical morning-after question would have been along the lines of "how does it feel?" or "how did Arnold do it?", or if you're looking to be a bit more substantive "what is Arnold's #1 priority?"
Instead, the first words out of Courics' mouth "polls show that 2/3 of the people feel Arnold didn't adequately explain his plans. What does that say about his leadership or his ability to communicate with the people?"
Next: "Arnold must present a budget by January 10th. How can he do it without cutting programs or raising taxes?"
And of course Katie hates the idea of letting taxpayers keep more of their money: "Wouldn't eliminating the recent tripling of the car tax wreak havoc?"
Next question: "When does he propose to address the groping allegations? Many of the women have retained high-powered lawyers. How concerned about lawsuits, how big a distratcion will that be?

Imus is the very best morning show. No spin whatsoever! Watching Imus now. Russert is bashing the Cali media.

She gets more and more transparent as time goes on.I'd dare say she's more partisan and more transparent than Bryant Gumbel ever was.

The liberals are getting themselves between a rock and a hard place I'm sure. They'll have to attack Maria because she's Arnold's wife, but that means they attack one of the more decent Kennedys. They seem to forget that Arnold might be a Republican but he's married into one of the big democrat families.

Katie to Russert: The polls yesterday looked close. What happened?
hahaha. I posted the following last evening in the
California Recall Live Thread:
To: Sabertooth
This election of Arnold and the recall of Gray Davis represents the greatest defeat the liberals have had since...uhh.... the fall of Saddam Hussein.
Imagine the gloom on [formerly perky] Katie Couric's face tomorrow morning as she interviews Tim Russert:
"Tim, wha'happened !?!?"

NBC will not cancel the 'Today Show'; but surely the viewers can cancel Katie et al.
Move on folks; 'go Fox' or turn on your radios!

"I think it's fascinating that most of the voters cast their ballots for someone with absolutely no political experience." "What does this say about the cult of celebrity?" What does that say about career politicians?

I think we have less to fear from those who still don't get it than those that get over it quickly and move on. Hopefully the demo powers-that-be learn little from their debacle in Calee (hey, I just made up a new ref. to Cal!)
To: Sacajaweau
Logic escapes them.
The women who voted didn't viciously turn against Arnold.

I actually thought that they would remember; and show some restraint in this campaign. But no. . .they remembered; and they did not care.
But then being a Liberal means never having to say your 'sorry'; so this 'MO' does not even give them a passing thought of restraint.
Do wonder what Maria and the rest of the family thought of 'their own', as they experienced the receiving end of the totally corrupted Rats, typically ugly/dirty and dishonest campaign strategies.

I think Maria is going to have a new assigment soon.
Imagine what it is going to be like if these two ever work together.
