Arnold Schwarzenegger's victory in the California gubernatorial-recall election bolsters President Bush's re-election prospects in a Democratic state the White House feared was unwinnable but now sees as a competitive battleground in 2004.
Republican Party strategists said last night that the overwhelming vote to oust Democratic Gov. Gray Davis and the stronger-than-expected vote for the movie-star action hero

At the same time, national news coverage of the race was eclipsing coverage of the Democratic Party's presidential campaigns, when the party needed as much media attention as it could get for a slate of candidates that remains little known to the nation at large. Hahahahahaha.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger's victory in the California gubernatorial-recall election bolsters President Bush's re-election prospects in a Democratic state the White House feared was unwinnable but now sees as a competitive battleground in 2004. "Really! I would never have known this.
Oh well better to have voted with principals in tact ( McClintock) and let Hillary rule.

Why does having a democrat-in-disguise help our chances? Most independants and democrats voted for him because he was liberal and popular, not because he was a republican.

I disagree. It will have little to no effect at all on 2004.
GOP governors did not help Bush or Dole in Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, California(96), Rhode Island, or Connecticutt.
Dem Govenors did not help in Bama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, or Georgia.

Its not just "taking" calif in the next pres election its also:
The Demons will now have to increase their attention on Calif and spend much more money and time on this state.
Which means less time and money on other states.
Aslo makes it harder for Sen Boxer in her next bid for reelection.

surely you realize that BUSH cannot win in california right?
I had two mclintobots tell me this just a few hours back...
the mclintbots told us that winning with arnold wouldn't help conservatives causes anywhere in the USA... right? nor would it enable us to put California into play right for president Bush?

I love this, I really do.
karl rove is pretty smart.

Take it up with Rove... His choice for California just beat the tar out of your "principles only" dude about 3 or 4 to 1.... while taking on about 130 other losers as well...
Maybe Rove and BUSH don't think that the governor of california who ran as a republican, is a democrat in disguise?

Shh. The "Anyone with an R" crowd is in the middle of their liberal-worship fest just as the Freeper sellouts who heaped praise on socialist Bloomberg's 'victory' for the GOP. I wonder if NYC is "in play" for Bush now. LOL. Likewise, the Arnie freepers don't want to reminded of reality now. I will have plenty of fun when Arnold bans their guns and raises their taxes though, since they voted for it. Like the Bloomberg freepers, they will spend much of the NEXT year DENYING that they called him a "fiscal conservative" and predicted his victory would bring a "Republican renissance". Look at the Bloomie crowd now saying "we knew he was a Clinton boy all along, we were just voting for him cuz Rudy asked us to." LOL. His victory thread from '01 shows otherwise. Bookmark this stuff.
As guys like Dan and myself who ARE in reality, here's a little reminder of how "competative" states in the Presidential race are simply by virtue of having a "Republican" governor.

1992
SITTING GOVERNOR: BILL WELD (R)
RED COUNTIES: CLINTON (D)
BLUE COUNTIES: BUSH (R)

1996
SITTING GOVERNOR: BILL WELD (R)
RED COUNTIES: CLINTON (D)
BLUE COUNTIES: DOLE (R)

2000
SITTING GOVERNOR: Paul Cellucci (R)
RED COUNTIES: GORE (D)
BLUE COUNTIES: BUSH (R)
What a nail bitter that was! The Republican governor managed to deliever a whooping 27% of the votes and ZERO counties to the Republican candidate for President! The Democrats must have been quaking in their boots, throwing massive sums of money and time to counter the huge grassroot GOP resistance. We all know the voters practically beat down the door to vote for Bush because RINO Cellucci urged them to support a guy who shared none of his values. What a Republican Renissance in Mass. Thank God they have a "Republican" Governor. The Democrats days are numbered there, aren't they?

People in California voted for him because they agreed with his fiscally conservative politics. Californians want leaner smaller government even as they embrace a frontier live and let live ethic.

In all fairness Mitt Romney is better than advertised. The best we can hope for is that Arnold follows him and not liberal RINOs like Bill Weld and Paul Celluci as Governor.

So I suggest you explain it to Karl Rove and the gamers at the White House war room... I am sure they will be amazed when you explain to them how winning the governor's chair in the world's fifth largest economy, will have no effect whatsoever on the republican outlook for next year's election....
Not much of a Bush supporter are you?
And by all means take the maps along with the bright red crayons to prove your point... I am sure they will be in shock and awe at your powerful presentation.

I somewhat agree with this article.
I believe that with Arnold as governor and lots of background Republican support making sure that his governorship goes well and smoothly. It could go a long way in making an Arnold endorsement carry alot of weight in the state. This goes for senators, congressmen, and even sitting presidents.
The main issue though is to get those bastards in the press to give the endorsement enough coverage to carry the weight in which it should.

Oh for goodness sakes. I wish you guys would just get over it. The election is over. You can't vote anymore. Live with it!
Read post #19 and let's try to make the best of it instead of continuing to shot each other in the foot!
