That is right, and being Tom McClintock was a divider and NOT a uniter, he has had a nice last run in CA politics IMO!

Me too. I voted for Tom, I couldn't have lived with myself if I hadn't. He has been fighting the liberal weasels in Sacramento for most of his adult life, it was the least I could do.

Arnold handled himself like a man and I will pull as hard for him as I can. California has been very good to me and my family for almost fifty years and I owe.

I won't miss that dang radio add from Clinton "What if we recalled every preacher and every teacher..." UGH. And Jesse Jackson hanging around Davis all day and trying to get the Secretary of State to hold the polls open an extra two hours. I can't wait to see what they've got lined up to enact retribution for this uprising by the lowly unwashed masses of California.

McClintock has very much tainted his previously sterling reputation with me in the way he attempted to act as a spoiler seeming due to his contentious relationship with the state GOP and inability to look beyond is having stepped aside for the ultimately losing son of Bob Hope for a congressional seat. I'm also not swayed by his "20 years" of political experience--we have term limits in CA for a reason, Tom--we don't want "experience money can't buy" like Gray Davis. Has he ever held a regular job? He's only 47! He's never voted for a CA budget. He's not a practical risk taker and seems to be able to accomplish little. He will never, ever win a Senate seat. Boxer would shred him if she needed to but he has such a disturbing on-camera presence that she won't even need to bother. Tom would be useful in a policy wonk position like wrangling the budget audit. Otherwise, I believe he's toast.

And the Republican party in California is completely controlled by RINOs now. Conservatives have no party in California.

Are you a troll? The Conservative wing has had its day again and again here in California. Most recently it produced inept campaigner Bill Simon whose defeat all but forced this cost recall effort. It's produced other steller, "winning" candidates as well. What? They didn't win? Arnold won. He's pro-choice with limits: he supports a ban on partial birth abortion and supports parental notification. The former has been passed in Congress and had a spotty record in court challenges. The later has failed in the courts. I'm pro-life but accept there are limits to what can be accomplished and realize there are more immediately pressing concerns in California, with many of whom I'm at odds on the issue of abortion. He has some tolerance for gays. There are many gays in California and should be, imho, treated as full and equal citizens like any other California resident. I'm not familiar with any particular "agenda" he has in mind for a gay constituency. He's for negotiating with the Federal gov't to actually live up to its role as protector of our borders. He's for requiring Indian Casinos (who have won *big* with the CA voters since the late 90's) to pay a fair share. He's opposed to drivers licenses for illegal immigrants. He's a fiscal conservative according to Tom McClintock, Bill Simon, Darrel Issa and others. He wants an independent audit of the budget. He's *for* spending triggers (such as was built into his "after school program" bill which was passed by the CA voters in 2002). He's opposed to raising taxes but understands there are times where they can be necessary (he pointed to emergency revenue to repair earthquake damage as an example). What is it about Arnold and a centrist-right Republican *winning* in California that scares you so? Is it his having married into a Kennedy family? Are you really just bent on proving the cliche that Huffington suggested in the debate--that Republicans are obsessed about sexual matters? He's not even sworn in yet. Shouldn't we wait for *particulars* on actual policies before condemning him? As long as his social agenda is constrained by his mandate to fix the fiscal and, related, infrastructural mess here in California I don't see a problem. No, I'm not worried about him being hamstrung by a Paula Jones-type legal case from those so-called accusers. Most of those were anonymous sources. You can't defend against that and you really have to ignore it. The latest accusation has been smartly debunked with the true cameraman and one other witness having come forward. There was also the common sense of the "victim" having chosen to work again for Arnold just three years after the first alleged incident. One of the other named accusers was put forth by an Democratic operative with an allegation so old as to be impossible to contend with. In total, these allegations (so far as I've heard) are not within a statute of limitations, thin on details, legally moot and little more than smears by a desperate and dying administration and its friends. Again: Specifically, what is it that makes you hate this victory--he'll be the only Republican in the CA executive branch, btw--so much?

The conservatives in California are now without
a party.

You get ready for some major league tax increases
and a big push for passing gay marriage in California.

The gay lobby has a Republican friend in the Governor's
mansion along with a pro-gay legislature just what
they have needed to get gay marriage made law.

NY has Mrs. Bill Clinton as a Senator.

There was some nasty ho elected in the South as well...Mississippi or Louisiana.

No, you gotta watch that creep every second.

Please join us in congratulating Schwarzenegger's victory.

Actions speak louder than words, wait for Schwarzenegger to act poorly before recrimination.

Look to the positive aspects of this campaign even if you cannot join us in congratulating Arnold's win.

The LA Times is now popularly known as a DNC outlet, having forfeited their credibility. Gray Davis is out of power. Bustamante is not even considered a serious candidate in retrospect by the media, and this will impact his future ambitions. The Democrats nationwide cannot ignore the loss of a Democratic governor in California, it is a claxon to which they can only respond with more vitriol and fewer facts.

Together we can pressure Governor Arnold to adhere to conservative policies.

I don't think we would have done this well without McClintock. I think he spoke for Arnold in a lot of ways. At any rate Tom is now a household name and he has huge favorable ratings. I hope he runs for Senator.

I already have posted about how the Davis being kicked
out is postive regardless of who replaced him
because a corrupt governor is held to account.

Arnold already show in his entire span of his life
he is ego maniac creep. Character does manner
we must brace to fight. The state is in even
bigger danger than under Davis.

And the whole nation is at risk because it
is going to take a near miracle for gay marriage
not to become law in California now.

Just saw this. That was a gracious gesture. Thank you, Saber.

You are correct. Without McClintock in the race to the end, the recall phase could have gone the other way. “There's a divinity that shapes our ends, rough hew them how we will.”

Today's headline in our local daily rag was "THE ANGRY VOTER IS BACK." The cluelessness of our self-anointed media intelligentsia continues to amaze.

9/09/2003 12:48 AM EDT Something to keep in mind here is that an outsider like Arnold Schwarzenegger is an ideal candidate in a recall election like this. The fact that it is a "recall" as opposed to a regular election means that an underlying disenchantment with professional politicians will be a major factor . . . This race is starting to look remarkably similar to Jesse Ventura's run for governor of Minnesota . . . This may sound completely off the wall, but I'm predicting that Arnold is going to win this election regardless of whether McClintock stays in the race or not.

Impressive. My theory is there's a strange synchronicity between the film Predator and gubernatorial offices. Look for one or more of these guys to run for governor somewhere next year and win. You read it here first! ;-)
