McClintock Cautiously Optimistic About Chances
After casting his vote this morning in a Thousand Oaks polling place, Republican state Senator Tom McClintock expressed confidence that an upset win would put him in the governor's office.
In recent days, McClintock has repeatedly said his his third place standing in the polls doesn't respresent the true feelings of voters. He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him.
McClintock had a message for those who like his message, but say he can't win and intend to vote for Schwarzenegger instead of him. "Don't vote for someone else's calculations, vote your own convictions," he said.
While disturbed by recent allegations about fellow Republican Schwarzenegger, McClintock also expressed skepticism about the charges because of the timing. Whatever his reservations, however, he said that if the accusations are proven, Schwarzenegger doesn't deserve to be governor.
McClintock has mapped out his first day in office if elected. First, he plans to sign an executive order to repeal the car tax, then take action to rescind expensive energy contracts, and finally call a special session to examine workman's compensation issues.

Today is a Day of Victory and Celebration.
I invite McClintock and his supporter to join the winning party and bury the hatchet.
There are other battles ahead where both the Schwarzenegger and McClintock supporters will fight shoulder to shoulder.

I am convinced that this hold out by TM was some kind of strategery. Lets unite again to keep the Rats at bay, but also to hold Arnold to his conservative promises.

Yeah, right into the heart of the phony small r republican party. You've lost most of us, but, as many of you liberals have said, we are not needed any more, therefore, we will join the Constitution party and get a real difference instead of me-tooism.
You may have won a small victory, but, you lost a lot more than that. Come 2004, I will remind eveyone I have contact with that Bush's social liberalism has spent 1 TRILLION of NEW spending.

He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him.
Why is it that McClintock insists that if you don't vote for him, you're not voting your conscience?

When the Constitution Party gets one-tenth of the support that McClintock got today, let us know. Until then, see ya.

Great. Just great. In a few months, he too will have a show on MSNBC.
To: poet
I haven't heard anything bad about the Constitution party, so go for it. When you get your numbers up over there, perhaps I'll join you. Until then, I'll support Schwarzenegger when he does things right and criticize him when he does things that aren't.
