Today is a Day of Victory and Celebration.
I invite McClintock and his supporter to join the winning party and bury the hatchet.
There are other battles ahead where both the Schwarzenegger and McClintock supporters will fight shoulder to shoulder.

I am convinced that this hold out by TM was some kind of strategery. Lets unite again to keep the Rats at bay, but also to hold Arnold to his conservative promises.

In recent days, McClintock has repeatedly said his his third place standing in the polls doesn't respresent the true feelings of voters. He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him. There is a difference between being optimistic and being delusional.

McClintock has torpedoed his own career.

LOL. Poor McClintock. However, you have to admire someone who is so arrogant that he would sacrafice the good of his own State and party by risking a win for Bustamante...

Isn't McC exhibiting here what the shrinks call a cognitive dissonance?

When I am governor, I will set the state right financially.
When I have a pony, I will ride him every day and brush his hair in the stable.
When I have lots of friends, I will play with them every day.
Not like those mean establishment Republicans who won't have anything to do with me now.

Tom is a good man and a good public servant.
You who mock him here do him an injustice.
If he had not been in the debate, our side would not have been heard at all. He was the only one who mentioned illegal immigration, gun rights, and other issues dear to the hearts of (many if not most) Freepers.
I talked to many Democrats who were impressed with how much sense he made.
If Arnold has any decency, he will offer him a job in his administration to, as the author of this thread states, 'bury the hatchet' between the moderate and right wings of the Party.
This is the right thing to do. This is how we effect change.
The hostility evidenced here is very distressing.
Divided we fall!
And don't think "THEY" don't know it!
I'd have been willing to vote for Tom OR Arnold, either one -- whichever one did the best for the Republican Party.
Winning California is a prize worth compromise.
I don't want to have to move! I like it here!
And W needs us too! So... grow up and get it together!

He believes the people of California will vote their consciences, resulting in a victory for him. That's another thing I like about Tom - - he doesn't seem to have a cynical bone in his body. Against all indications that California is nothing more than a toilet full of Republican surrender monkeys and celebrity worshipping nincompoops, Tom still believes that there are enough honorable Californians left to elect him governor.
California doesn't deserve you, Tom.
Get out of that place and go somewhere where there is hope.
