bellevuesbest, how do you figure most people are voting Democratic??? Most people voting "NO" are going to vote for Boostmytaxes anyway... You don't add the "No" recall votes and Boostmytaxes votes to get a precentage of people voting Democtratic. Using that logic I would counter that by adding all the Yes recall votes plus Arnold's and McClintock's to show an overwhelming Republican vote...

Remember, you can vote on both parts of the ballot even if you voted against the recall. Cruz Bustamante's slogan was "No on Recall, Yes on Bustamante", and my guess is that most of the No voters voted for him.
Bustamante's lack of appeal is defined by the likely fact that about 25% of those who voted No on the recall voted against him. If he'd been a well-qualified candidate, you would expect nearly 100% - that is, a 43% vote against the recall and a 43% vote for Bustamante.

How do you figure? They are two separate questions, separate ballots. You can't add the "No's" to the Busty vote.

OK, here's my arithmetic: 43% of the voters are voting NO to recall. They are Davis voters, and let's consider them to be Democrats (although there may be some Republicans voting "No" for because they do not like the precedents being set). Of the voters voting "Yes" to the recall, all of the voters for Bustamante are likely to be Democrats. Therefore, of the 57% voting Yes, 34% are voting for Bustamante.
Thus, you add 43% + (57% X 34%), which gives you a solid plurality of voters who are voting for a Democrat. Again, Bustamante is the true spoiler in the race, not McClintock, although his dropping out of the race certainly would have helped Arnold get a larger vote total.
If Bustamante had not run, at least 2/3rds of his voters (and this is just my opinion) would have voted to keep Davis, and the recall would have been very close.

"One item everyone seems to overlook -- when you add the NO on recall (i.e., Davis voters) + the Bustamante voters, the majority of the voters are voting Democratic. Without Bustamante entering the race, I think the recall would have been very close."
Most Bustedmante voters also voted no on the recall.

BustaMEChA voters were representative of a number of groups. For the most part, the list reads like a "Who Is Who" of MEChA members.
Oh, and don't forget to add the entire population of San Fruitcisco's Castro District.
