Loyola University of New Orleans accepted the resignation of its president, the Rev. Bernard P. Knoth Tuesday amid allegations of sexual misconduct that occurred while he was assigned in Indianapolis during the mid 1980's.

In a written statement, Knoth denied any inappropriate conduct stemming from a complaint about an incident in 1986.

Knoth said that his decision to resign came after the provincial superior of the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus deemed the complaint to be credible, according to the U.S. Bishops Norms.

"Pursuant to those norms, the Chicago provincial superior has removed me from active ministry, necessitating my resignation from the presidency," said Knoth.

A statement from the Chicago Providence Jesuits said the alleged abuse is said to have taken place during Fr. Knoth's tenure at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis, IN.

Knoth will be replaced on an interim basis by the Reverend William J. Byron, S.J.

"I would describe it as another event in a series of tragic events that in my view constitutes the greatest crisis that the Catholic Church has had to deal with in the United States," said Byron. "Whenever something like this happens it's like a kick in the teeth. I have deep, deep sympathy for this good man who has been accused, and I have deep sympathy with anyone who has been a victim of sexual misconduct."

the economics department emphatically was not. Quite the opposite, in fact.

A friend of mine is a professor there in the Criminal Justice department (at least that is what he teaches, not sure if it may fall under another department name). He most decidedly is not a liberal, although he was at one time.

He started out to change the world as a lib, but twenty years in the prison system converted him (that plus being passed over twice due to affirmative action appointments).

His goal now is to change em, one at a time to conservatives.

contraception and other forms of sodomy

Maybe you could explain the logic behind this phrase to us ignorant non-Catholics.

The use of contraceptives is one form of the sin of sodomy. Sodomy is the use of the sexual powers in an act which is in itself not apt for the generation of a child.

Until 1930, when the Anglicans formally approved of the use of contraceptives, every Christian church condemned the use of contraceptives precisely on the grounds that contraception is a species of sodomy. The fact that contraception is popular, while other forms of sodomy are less popular, does not change the fact that contraception is a species of sodomy.

The Theology department of Marquette for years (still?) has been the home of pro-abortion ex-priest Daniel Maguire, who authored pamphlets for Catholics for a Free Choice, etc., etc.

Let me add their cave-in to Political correctness, changing the team name from the Warriors to the flapping turkeys or some such, and the multiplke vote fraud students who were never disciplined.

Marquette is a liberal hell hole that deserves to be closed and have a real university opened in it's place.

Class of 84 (and it was pretty liberal then too)
