[history]
A council of war for conservative Episcopalians gets under way today, when 2,200 of them meet in Dallas to consider ways to protest the recent confirmation of a practicing homosexual priest as the new bishop of New Hampshire.
Episcopalians from all 50 states will meet until Thursday afternoon at the Wyndham Antole Hotel in Dallas to listen to speakers, pray and network together during a gathering labeled "A Place to Stand." Conferees include 40 bishops, 729 priests, 43 deacons, 91 seminarians and 1,219 laity.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

All of this garbage is unbelievable. We just quit our church (Lutheran) because the new female pastor was teaching the kids in confirmation class that God might just be a woman. It does trouble me a lot the way churches are going nowadays. "Falling away" sure does describe it.

I have lately been impressed with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and their doctrinal stance.

#5..We are former Lutherans...(12 years of our married life, and my husband was brought up Lutheran)....
..but 16 years ago discovered the Presbyterian Church, PCA...
...The PCA broke away from the liberal USA Pres. in 1973....
...one thing you for sure won't find, are women pastors in the PCA....another thing you can count on is it is faithful to the scriptures....

"Many of our bishops ... have said they simply cannot comprehend why [homosexual clergy] is 'the deal breaking' issue," he wrote. "One bishop said, 'We can go side by side to the Communion rail in total disagreement over capital punishment whether or not it is right to kill a human being so why is this the issue that is tearing us apart?' "
Because there is still hope. Opposition to homosexual clergy is evidence of life in the body.

Hey Mr. Bishop - here's what's going on -- on the capital punishment thing, the other side was trying to preserve the "church" by overlooking a few things. Truth is, you probably shouldn't have been going to the communion rail under such conditions (that whole divisions and strife thing, ya know). Here's another truth - you can either be a Bishop or you can be queer - you can't, scripturally, be both.

One bishop said he has lost at least one family in every congregation, and eighteen families in one of them. According to this analysis, nearly 60 percent of Episcopal churches have average worship attendance of 100 persons or less.
A loss of 18 families -- probably 50+ members -- is therefore quite significant, especially since the sort of people who would leave over this, are also most likely to have been active in the parish.
